Jim Byers slips into something more comfortable, like a big nappy, and checks out the new releases.

SINGLES:

'Wave': Aqua Bassino (F Comm)

Two achingly gorgeous slices of deep. deep house from Edinburgh's very own Mr Bassino. If you dig that whole St Germain/Shazz midtempo mellow piano/sax house vibe, this is most definitely for yOu.

‘Superstar': Project MSC featuring Ce Ce Rogers (Blackjack Phonographlcs) Typical oddball, slightly off~kilter Blaze production cuts a funky rug underneath that awesome, awesome Ce Ce Roger‘s voice. Comes with inferior, though more club friendly, Smokin Beats mix.

'You Bring Me Up': Y Tribe (Deconstruction)

Firin' 2 step garage, with mundane- sounding Fire Island mixes. Check the original or the Groove Chronicles more radical take.

'Coloured City': Laurent Gamier (F Comm)

Mad bouncy techno from the famous Frenchman, similar in funk terms to last year’s 'Crispy Bacon', with Garnier giving up some wacked out camp vocals at the start. ‘Jackin Zone’ on the flip is deeper and more underground. 'Fullscope': Multi (Mantra)

Deep, downtempo aquatic trippyness on the excellent 'Esc' provides me with the ultimate moody mellow vibes. Emotive electronica. One for the headz. 'Horny’: Mousse T vs Hot 'n' Juicy (AMzPM)

Massive garage tune of recent weeks, now with new vocal mixes from Boris Dlugosch. Watch it fly. All together now, ’l’m horny, horny, horny, hornyl' Cor!

ALBUMS:

'Mutant Disco‘ Mixed by Colin Dale: Various (Harmless)

Pioneering DJ Dale brings you a well- programmed mix of twisted tech-housey grooves. Ranges from Gemini and Kevin Yost deepness right up to more banging Jeff Mills and Luke Slater.

‘Booker T The Prize Collection': Various (Azuli)

Sweet, sweet UK garage from Booker T. Here you get the best of his recent remixes, including All Saints, Bizzi, Juliet Roberts and Da Mob, plus a couple of exclusives. _ 'Chickeneye': Deejay Punk-Roc (lndependiente)

Mental, machine-gun beats, fierce block-rockin', ass-quakin', globe giratin' hip hop-meets-electromeets-big beat- meets~nu skool breaks. Part Beasties, part Chemicals, part Daft Punk. A real eye opener.

‘Sunday Best': Various (Dust 2 Dust) Cool collection of various styles from this south London club. From Two Lone Swordsman to DJ Food to Pressure Drop to Justice. Excellent package. 'Endlessnessism': Various (Dot) Swedish label With a wicked selection of deep, downtempo smoker’s delights. Highlights come from Jimpster, Spacer, Endemic Void and Roupe. For the headz.
