SINGLES

’Tortoise v Derrick Carter': Derrick Carter Remix (City Slang)

Derrick Carter gets deep on your ass with two mixes of post-rock weirdos Tortoise. It's pretty good too.

’biggln' 2044‘: Phuture Retro (ironicsole)

Stevie Middleton and Julian Bendall get nasty with the deepness on the title track, in a kind of lam at The Sub Club- style. Picking up the quality vibe left by Fred Everything.

'Funkyglove': The Memzee (Wot's The SP)

Big, big, big UK garage vibe on this vocal from vocalist/producer Memzee. On a skippy, uplifting vibe.

‘Movin' On': Prospect Park feat. Carolyn Harding (AMzPM)

Another big vocal from AMzPM. This time, it‘s another version of the oldie made famous by Roach Motel back in '91. Mixes from Negro, Matthew Roberts, Dem 2 and Terry Lee Brown.

‘Fairplay’: Coco 8: The Bean (Mantra) High quality moody hip hop/R 'n' B/soul from Edinburgh outfit. Gwen Esty's vocals are particularly strong.

‘On My Mind': Charismatix (Rogue Music)

Edinburgh's Gareth Sommerville and Gavin Sutherland with a varied tour- track EP for a local label. The title track is a tuft, New York/Farley 8: Heller-ish groove, while ’Shelter‘ is more of a Catch-style garage outing. Flip for two middle-of-the-night instrumentals.

’lnspiration a Light': Universal Principles (Soma)

Funky summer vibes from Glasgow‘s Nick Peacock. with assistance from Glen Gibbons (Equus, Rejuvination) and Siam’s Stuart McMillan. Think Black Science Orchestra meets Scott Grooves meets Roy Ayers.

‘Fragnentsflime in Space': Future Engineers (Temple Music)

Deep, cosmic drum 'n' bass from the Future Engineers on this Scottish label. One for the Bukem crew.
