Christmas is known to throw the nation into a
collective shopping frenzy. The ubiquitous box of
chocolates, the book token or the obligatory pair of socks are purchased by shoppers who, in their hearts, dream of the original Christmas
gift.
This year the dream can be made reality. Scotland's galleries are serving up art, crafts and jewellery in a series of exhibitions dedicated to the festive season and the shopper in a quandary. Original prints, contemporary ceramics, paintings and even sculpture is out there, ranging in price from a few quid to
hundreds of pounds.
So wave goodbye to department stores and crowds gathered around Santa’s Grotto. Pop into a gallery near you for that special gift and become a festive shopper with artistic flair.
