A Little Northern Exposure

Sasha and John Digweed have been at the forefront of the club scene, frothy pints in hand, since the very early 905. Despite repeated international success, they are still affectionately known as ‘Sasha and Diggers' and are among the few DJs of their generation to have side-stepped all the corporate ‘I've sold my soul to the devil and Radio 1‘ nonsense. The pair simply continue making and playing the kind of house music they love.

Other than their monthly residency at Twilo in New York, Sasha and Digweed haven’t gigged together a great deal of late. But all that's set to change with the release of the long-awaited third instalment in their series of Northern Exposure mix albums and subsequent tour, including DJ sets in Perth and Edinburgh.

‘We used to constantly tour together for months on end and people thought that we were joined at the hip,’ remembers Digweed. ‘But over the past few years, we've done a lot of work separately. It was important back then to work together but now both our schedules are so hectic.’

’It hasn’t been a problem,’ offers Sasha. ’In fact it makes it more special when we do get together. Things just

seem to flow.‘

The Northern Exposure: Expeditions album takes the pair full circle with a conscious move back to recreating the sound and atmosphere they achieve when playing live. ‘Compared to our last CD, this album is more geared to our club sets,’ says Digweed. ‘It is much more like the earlier style we had. I think people are going to like it.‘ (Simone Baird) 3 Sasha and Digweed play Colours, Potterrow, Edinburgh, Sun 74 Feb. Northern Exposure; Expeditions IS released on

INCredib/e, Mon 22 Feb.
