Scotland's Secret Bunker

What looks like your common or garden farm house from the surface in fact hid one of the country‘s best kept secrets for over 40 years. If the UK had come under nuclear attack. the fortified labyrinth underneath would have become the central command centre for government and military chiefs. Due to the cooling-off of the nuclear threat this bunker. with all its original fittings. is now open to the public.

Weaver's Cottage

Festival events

Pride Scotland March Assemble in East London Street from noon. The march. led by women drummers‘ band Commotion. will move off at 12.30pm up to Broughton Street. along Leith Street. west along Princes Street. south up toward the Mound. across George IV Bridge. around Forest Road to the Meadows. Pride Scotland stewards in red T-shirts are available for help; Pride Scotland collectors in yellow T-shirts will be swapping whistles for donations.

Pride Scotland Festival The Meadows. 12.30—7pm. For running order and times. call 0131 556 8822 nearer the event. The Main Stage hosts live entertainment on stage from 2—7pm. Artists appearing include Tom Robinson. .laqui ‘0’. Lorna Brooks. Carol Laula. Kate Copstick. Summerhouse. Chloe Poems. Sassy Stryker and Karen Dunbar. In the Smirnoff Dance Tent (3—7pm). local DJs including Maggie and Alan (Joy) and DJ BP (Liberty). will take to the decks. with others to be confirmed. Elsewhere. the Womens’ Tent contains a bar. cabaret stage and stalls; there are limited places in a free creche for 3—8 year olds; alcoholic and soft drinks can be purchased at the New Town Bar & Cafe Habana Beer Tent; the Market Area is where a variety of Scottish and British groups and businesses are offering information and goods for sale; and the Diversity Area includes the Amnesty International Cafe. performance space. stalls. presentations and discussions. Aside from the entertainment. health groups and practitioners will offer information. resources and services to help you stay healthy. and the Crew 2000 Chill Out Area provides a quiet oasis in the middle of the festival buzz. Drugs information and advice will be available throughout the day.
