Edinburgh International Jazz & Blues Festival takes place between Fri 30 Jul-Sun 8 Aug. Tickets for all concerts (except for Van Morrison at The Playhouse, 557 2590) are available from the Queen’s Hall, 668 2019, and the Assembly Rooms, 220 4349. A lavish opening to the festival in this Gala Concert focusing on the music of Duke Ellington. if you've been on Mars. you may not know this is the centenary of Duke‘s birth. and Tommy Smith and his musicians will be joined by several stellar guests to launch this exciting new venue. including Joe 'l'emperley'.
