Things We Do For Love Thu 22—Thu 5 Aug (closed Sun/Mon). 8pm; Sat 24 Jtil. Sat 3l Jul. Wed 28 Jul & Sat 4 Aug 2.30pm & 8pm. £l~£ l6. High Road's Briony McRoberts leads in Alan Ayckbourne‘s comedy/drama which. if not as bleak as his earlier work. has sortie painful and pretty cringey moments. The humour of this piece. though. is to the fore as MCRoberts‘ 40ish landlady falls for her best paI‘s man. and pure sexual attraction takes precedence over long-standing friendship. l.ook otrt for Robert Paterson as the downstairs neighbour Gilbert. an admirer of McRobcrt‘s uptight and repressive character“. who has a few secrets up his sleeve. SurvivorsThu 22~Sat 24 Jul. 7.30pm. £3. Performed in the Lyceum's rehearsal space. Jenny Ryan's script. which attracted SAC funding. has a superficial resemblance to Lord ()fr/ir' I’lies. Steve Small. the Lyceum Education officer directs the Royal Lyceum Youth Theatre in a story which sees a small group ofchildren marooned on a Scottish island after a plane crash which has killed their adult chaperones. How will they cope with the trauma. and make the decisions necessary for survival? A chance to see future local acting talent is combined with an intriguing narrative.
