I Bennet's at Bennet’s. 11pm-3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Contemporary house from Annie and Grant. Gay.

I B.N.O.T.Y at Babaza. 6pm-3am. £3 (£2); free before 11pm. Weekly. Feel- good house and disco at this after-hours shake down for the older mid-week party groover.

I Brel at Brel. 8.30—11pm. Free. Weekly. Nimbus DJs and Norse Ned play soul and funk.

I Cop at Archaos. 11pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. An arresting (Chortle) student night out on a grand scale, with humpy pumpy house anthems in the main room with the residents and the Archaos flying dancers. Tam Coyle does his kitschy party sing-along in the room downstairs and up in the Sky Bar they’ve got Sky Cop with Ryan Kerr playing all the big house and garage.

I Dee Jays In Disguise at Variety. 8pm—close. Free. Weekly. Super underground dubby mix of techno and electronica from Hatch and J ilkes of Knucklehead (M Machines).

I Fatboy's Kit en at McChuill’s Way Out West. 8—llpm. Free. Weekly. Big beat and hip hop.

I fnult at The Apartment. llpm-3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Scorching house from Billy Milligan and Stephen Foy playing to a gorgeous bunch.

I Freedom at The Shed. 10pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Southside action with Mathew and Peter upstairs with 805 and 905 club anthems, plus Paul N’Jie in the main hall playing funk, garage and chart house.

I Free Flow at Glasgow School Of Art (downstairs). 9pm-2am. £1 (students and guests). Weekly. Northern soul, funk flavour, jazzy breaks and beats, hip hop, movie soundtracks and drum & bass.

I Funky Fursdays at Planet Peach. 11pm-3.15am. £3 (£2). Weekly. DJ Stevie G playing funky disco.

I Hi Karate at the Glasgow School of Art (upstairs). 10pm-2am. £1. Weekly. Neil McMillan and Andrew Divine scissor-kick a furious funk vibe into Thursday nights with this deep down and dirty storrner of a night. A masterful combination of hip hop, soul, funk, electro, jump-up, ragga and reggae.

I Last Exit at Club Budda. 11pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Inside Out/The Ark’s Simon Foy playing a steady mix of house anthems and commercial garage.

I Loveshack at Fury Murry’s. 11pm-3.15am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Classic indie, house and disco sounds from Jim Downie.

I The Lime at The Lime 10pm—3am. £4 (£3); £2 before 11pm. Weekly. Student night with club classics in a house and garage style from David Keenan.

I Movement at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. DJ Paul Melon with poppy cheese and dance.

I Picante at Reds. llpm-3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. DJ Skud with hot and spicy house with a Latin edge.

I Rumble at The Garage. 11pm-3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. All your favourite charty dance faves, movie tunes and indie classics, plus devastatingly drunk students.

I Salsa Sabrosa at Havana. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Quality Latin dance grooves, barrio beats and salsa from New York, Columbia and Puerto Rico.

I Skint at The Cathouse. llpm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Indie/grunge/chemical beats at Scotland’s number one rock club. I Sly at Trash. llpm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. They’re all taking it in turns to hoof it back from Ibiza for this night, but generally you’ll be getting Neil and Frog in the main room for big anthems and chees nonsense.

I So emusic at Alaska. Next date 2 Sep. I Wanna Play? at The Tunnel. 11pm—3am. £4 (£2.50 with matric card). Weekly. The Tunnel’s student night, with Kevin and Scott from weekends at the Tunnel, joined by Lisa Littlewood, mixing an accessible spread of contemporary house anthems and timeless classics.

I Yang at Yang. llpm-3am (bar open from 6pm). £3 (£2); free before 11pm. Weekly. Elevation Trio, Glasgow-based funk collective now signed to Warner Bros. play live every week in the bar, while residents Bob Peck & Charlie lnman mix up hip hop & soul to funk breaks and house in room two. Taking yourself deeper into the Yang complex you’ve got a rotating selection of ex-ci- tations in the club room. Yogi Haughton and Dribbler get down with the freshest US/UK garage with the newest and truest cuts straight 03' the press (19 Aug), the Mystec Beatz crew bring on their sleaze to please with the sexiest acid sounds in town (26 Aug). One of Glasgow’s best kept secrets this one.

GLASGOW FRIDAYS

I Alaska at Alaska. 11pm—3am. £6 (£5). Weekly. Top night in this magnificent two-floored venue featuring the legendary Nick Peacock, Muchail, Alan and Raymond Woods playing a mix of funk, jazz, soul, R&B and house plus live percussion, Modaji guests (20 Aug). ‘Flying off between Clausell and Craig, spellbinding and victorious’ said Update, and we’d have to agree. I Apartment at The Apartment. 11pm-3am. £8. Weekly. Jim Da Best playing a clubby party mix at this good looking venue, with even better looking clientele.

I The Ark at The Tunnel. 10.30pm-3am. £7 (£5). Weekly. Your trio of professional caners Michael Kilkie, Scott Mackay and Zammo (Rhumba) living it large in the main room throwing out thumping hard house as good as you’ll get anywhere in the country. Then there’s Simon Foy in the second room not going quite as mad for it, but still bordering insanity in his own style.

I Bennet’s 11.30pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Grant Duff downstairs with an upbeat dance night, then DJ Shawn for handba y house upstairs. Gay.

I Bud a at Bar Budda. 8pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. Chris Harris with a chunk house pre-club warmer.

I Bud asole at Club Budda. 11pm-3am. £5. Weekly. Stevie Middleton, internationally renowned DJ and owner of Sole Music Records, continuing upstairs with his own particular brand of American deep house and garage for the people who’ve been dancing on the tables down in Bar Budda earlier.

I Bump ‘n' Hustle at Babaza. 6pm—3am (DJs from 11pm). £5 (free before 11pm). Weekly. A celebration of black music from Paul Traynor after Jamie Strang warms thin 5 up with funky R & B.

I Cheesy gap at The Queen Margaret Union. 10pm-2am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Students and four guests. It’s cheesy and it’s poppy and it’s just unbridled fun all the way, brought to you by DJ Toast. Note that this fromage fandango continues all the way through the summer.

I Crash at The Shed. 10pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Dave Ross playing an eclectic mix of kitsch classics at this Southside club from the team behind The Gara e.

I Cu De Sac at Cul De Sac Bar. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. Anton and Doug with pre-club head phunk. Checkout Kenny H playing

I Deep Fried at The 13th Note Club (both floors). llpm—3am. £3. Weekly. The Kung Funk Collective with hip hop, funky breaks and kicking beats.

I Domenic at The Cooler. 9pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. One half of the Subculture team playing undiluted American house.

I 63 Experience at The Temple. 11pm—3am. £6 (£4). Weekly. Radio Clyde’s George Bowie and international DJ producer Trevor Reilly (Manifesto) playing full-on house to a full house. An unpretentious, busy night.

I Gold 'N' Delicious at Archaos. 11pm—3am. £6 (£4). Weekly. David Gilmore and Ryan Kerr playing quality house and garage amid the spectacle of the Friday night acts. Bungee jumping acrobats, stilt walkers and much madness. Jamie Strang also plays soul and R&B in bar one. Up in the Sky Bar Mathew Morton plays R&B, funk and garage.

I Goodfoot at The Bedsit. 9pm—2am. £4. 20 Aug. Fortnightly. Glasgow’s best Northern soul night has now left the Sub Club and takes up residency here. The full crew of Scott Brown, Kev & Mark and Andrew Divine mix up the soul esoteric classics which earned them the respect they deserve from the west coast Fred Perry scooter boys and girls. Watch and learn.

I Havana Barcelona at Barcelona. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. The sound of the Latino house underground from DJ Jazz.

I Katch at The Cathouse. 10.30pm-3am. £4 (£3); £1 before 11.30pm. Weekly. Three floors of rock, hip hop, chemical beats, grunge and contemporary indie.

I Lime at The Lime. 10.30pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. DJ Cameron Craig with house, garage, nu soul and hip hop.

I Love Bug at The Garage. 10.30pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Good- time party tunes with a young, boppy, drinky and snoggy crowd. Wildly busy so it’s well advised to haul yo’ ass down there early.

I Paul Cavvley at Air Organic. 9pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. Psy-phi’s Paul Cawley, label boss of Fenetik Records, here every week for a beta testing hip hop, drum & bass and break beat set.

I Polo lounge at The Polo Lounge. 11pm-3am. £5. Weekly. DJ Michelle in main club with 90s club and indie and the Trophy Room with Tom for a more commercial mix. Gay. The Polo Lounge operates as a bar before all club nights with free entry before the club starts.

I Planet Peach at Planet Peach. llpm-3.15am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Paul N’Jie playing fresh and upfront house funked up with a helping of R&B and soul classics.

I Psy phi at The Sub Club. 11 pm—3am. £7 (£5). 20 Aug. Monthly. Paul Cawley (Fenetik) and Alex Horton continue their monthly hip hop extravaganza bringing The Creators to the club tonight. Only one of the Creators will play, and they’re not sure which one, but both Simon and Julian are two of the finest break merchants in the country, and are being pitched as the next big thing. I Radar at The Cross Bar. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. Progressive dub and techno with an eclectic mix of ‘beats, bleeps and squeaksfi

I Reds at Reds. 11pm—3am. £6 (£5). Weekly. DJ Alan Ronald with commercial house, dance anthems and club classics.

I Relief at The Arches. 11pm-3am. £8 (£6). Weekly. Night run by the crew behind the legendary Slam night, which Relief replaced. Relief offers the finest electro disco funk tech house from Laurence Hughes and Silicone Soul (Soma).

I Rum And Drum at Havana. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. Tchico’s rum-drenched musical journey playing party beats from west coast R&B to east coast Latino house.

Alaska The residents are joined tonight by musical subversive Modaji, twisting together Latin, techno, soul and hip hop as seen on his work on Compost, Yellow and Talkin' Loud. Alaska, Fri 20 Aug.

Psy phi London's The Creators not only produce the finest hip hop, they've also got a nice line in tracking down and selling on the most obscure, fat tracks to half the names in the business. Prepare to be blown away as they guest at Paul Cawley (Fenetik) and Alex Horton’s real rare night. The Sub Club, Fri 20 Aug.

Joints and Jams The R&B scene is exploding in Glasgow at the moment and one of the nights firing in particularly fine form is this midweeker, with Blues and Soul Magazine's Bob leffries guesting alongside the residents this week. Planet Peach, Wed 25 Aug.

Syntax Acid techno sound system welcomes techno's prince of darkness Justin Berkovi (Djax-Up- Beats, Force Inc, Drought), last seen in Glasgow down at Test. Tonight though he’s in the company of Syntax residents, lace and Terry (Pussypower). Queen Margaret Union, Sat 21 Aug.

Straight Ahead Champions of soul, jazz and funk Kev and Mark Linton (Soulphuric) joined tonight by Glasgow's two time DMC finalist and radio man Paul 'Pee Wee' Welsh, who we don‘t see nearly enough gracing the city’s club decks. Alaska, Sat 21 Aug.

Sub Culture Paper recordings host another party night at the Sub Club, this time bringing up the big guns Miles Holloway and Elliot Eastwick to join our beloved residents Harri and Domenic. The Sub Club, Sat 21 Aug.

I Shag at Fury Murry’s. 11pm—3.15am. £5 (£3). Weekly. Mark and James G playing to a good time party crowd in the guaranteed-a-winch Fury’s.

I Soaterama at Nice ‘n’ Sleazy (ground floor bar). 8pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. Regular Friday evening do, with the best in all sorts of fields from Americana punk to dub, drum & bass and original indie. I Stateside Sounds at The State Bar (Holland Street). 4-7pm. Free. Weekly. DJ Paul Shields playing alternative country, rock and blues along the lines of Led Zeppelin, Crosby Stills & Nash, Wilco etc.

I Strawberry Fields at Strawberry Fields. 9pm-3am. £6 (£7 after 11pm). Weekly. Classic party sounds from the 605 through to the 80s. Sinatra to Bryan Adams, Beatles to Abba, Madness to the Ba City Rollers.
