CLUBS

EDINBURGH SUNDAYS continued

I Made In Iguana at Iguana. 9pm-1am. Free. Weekly. Every lady’s favourite, Bob Cairns does the laid back Sunday session thing, taking elements of soul, funk, Latin grooves and future jam and playing his wa into our hearts . . .

I Queer Sun ays at Eden. 11pm-3am. £2 before midnight; £4 after. Catch the gorgeous DJ Venus playing unashamedly happy and commercial gay dance - camp 70$ disco, intense 805 hi NRG and current club anthems. In The Cocteau Lounge enjoy The Torch Song Divas.

I The Subway West End 4pm—3am. £1. Weekly. See Thu.

I Sunday Sunday at The Citrus Club. 10pm—3am. Free. Weekly. Funk, dance, indie, big beat, disco, rock, 805 and much, much more.

I Tackno at Club Mercado. 10.30pm—3am-ish. £6 liggers; £5 wiggers; £4 homies. 26 Sep. Monthly. Time to dust off your baggiest baggies, find your most colourful bandanas and turn that cap all the way round - it’s Hip Hop Tackno. Word to yo muvva, homie, this be da bomb . . . oh shut up, white girl. Anyway, it’ll be tongue in cheek rap- tastic all night long with Trendy Wendy, the real deal homegirl. Fly (or something).

I Taste at Wilkie House. 11pm—3am. £8 (£6). Weekly. Assuming that Fisher & Price actually make it back from their gigs in Moscow this weekend, it’ll be full steam ahead for one of Scotland’s best clubs. What starts as uplifting house and very nice garage invariably goes pearshaped and hard house becomes the order of the day. The pair are wild behind the decks and the crowd are among the best we’ve ever seen, period. Through the back Martin Valentine and Stuart Barrie play garage and US garage to an appreciative audience. Essential night out every week.

This one looks a little different: while there will be the usual cheap drinks to get you plastered beyond belief, they promise that there won’t be any of ‘that terrible music that you usually get’. Look out for some very special guests.

I Hump at The Ark. 9pm-3am. £2. Weekly. Look out for the free VIP passes. Student club with appropriate music and drinks promos, you know how it goes. I Jazz Joint at Henry’s Cellar Bar. 10pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Cathie Rae hosts the Jazz Joint’s regular night of vocal talent from around the city and further afield. Subie Coleman takes over the hosting duties every other week (6 Oct) and backing comes in the shape of the Brian Kellock Trio. DJ Frosty provides the turntable talent for the evening.
