Robert Rae directs the true story of twelve-year-old gypsy Evelyn Gilhaney’s move from a traveller’s site in Dumbarton to a ‘real’ house in Roseneath. The play is a result of Gilhaney’s winning entry to the Theatre Workshop’s ‘Written Without Pre'udice’ competition.

Traverse Theatre Company and Gaelic company Tosg present seven new fifteen-minute plays reflecting the diverse way of life in the Highlands and Islands. Playwrights from Shetland, Caithness, Orkney, Invemess, Lewis and the Black Isle, including Duncan McLean and George Gunn have contributed work, with direction from Philip Howard.

Britain’s premier contemporary dance company, and one of the Festival Theatre’s biggest crowd-pullers, return to Edinburgh with another two programme show. Thursday night sees a dynamic triple-bill featuring Jeremy James’ Gaps, Lapse and Relapse, Christopher Bruce’s evocative piece Four Scenes, and Twyla Tharp’s explosive The Golden Section. The real treat comes on Friday and Saturday night however, when Christopher Bruce’s first full-length ballet since Cruel Garden gets its first Scottish , airing. Drawn from a host of sources, this highly theatrical work takes you on a journey from pagan time to the new millennium.
