we adore and make no mistake) reside over the most laidback yet up for it (if you can be both at the same time) gay- friendly house and techno night around. The main room sees the pair throw down some very funky, almost American house and odd bits of techno, while the back room houses Trendy Wendy and Sally Findlay, with their kitsch, disco, house and what not. All in all, a great night out, guaranteed.

About bloody time, we say. lt’s been three months since the last Substance and there’s been a gaping hole inScotland’s Clubland, with no decent garage nights to replace it. Thank God then, that they are putting on this new night with Craig Smith taking time out from his regular London jaunts and time in the studio to maintain this residency.

He will be joined by Matthias Heilbronn, New York’s unsung hero of garage and fave guest of Substance (and number 95 in DJ magazine’s Top 100 DJs, for what it’s worth); quite possibly the only guest worthy of picking up the baton of opening guest slot the pressure, the pressure. Downstairs in the Lounge, Mikey Stirton lays on some superfine future jazz, Afro beat and a host of quality sounds.
