Yogi Haughton maintains a tight grip on the music policy and invites his favourite DJ pals tojoin him in his crusade for the very finest in disco music, all with a great Latin, jazz and funk edge. This is an outstanding club at a great venue. Definitely worth a look.

I The Egg at The Wee Red Bar. llpm—3am. £4 (£3.50). Weekly. A mix of indie, 605, soul, deep funk, soundtracks and all things groovy at this popular Art College student union.

This house and speed garage night has DJs Nejat Barton (Manchester) and Graeme Popstar (who has the coolest DJ name around, we think). Please note that there is a tight dress code: ‘no effort, no chance’. Look beautiful and outrageous, people.

Alan Joy hosts a night of sexy trance and hard house with a strict door policy fetish, sexy or none at all, it's your outfits that matter, baby. The Fire Island crew take over Wilkie for a massive house and techno affair with Daz Davies, Chris Boume, James, Marco and Steven Graham doing the damage. Tonight is the last ever Lounge, and the Lizzard Lounge All Stars - basically an extended who’s who of Edinburgh’s music scene will be coming together for the night of nights. As previewed in the last issue of The List, Lizzard Lounge has been one of the most important clubs in the capital, and there are many who are sad to see it leave Graffiti. Get down early if you want to get in.

It’s a ‘celebration of life’ promoter George P tells us, which we can safely translate for you as the mental and hedonistic knees-up you will ever witness. Peter James, Maggie Joy, GP and Jared will rock the main room while the funky speed garage sounds of Scott G and Andy Jnr will groove the Lounge. Sure to be full of beautiful, brave, gay, outrageous and the downright on one, tonight will set the standard for clubbing in Y2K, mark our words. I Scratch at The Venue. llpm—4am. £6 (£5). 18 Dec & 1 Jan. Fortnightly. Two massive nights for the hip hop kids: firstly, The Creators are hitting Edinburgh on 18 Dee for what we think is their first time (you can never be too sure, though). Heavily played by the likes of America’s Funkmaster Flex and Tim Westwood, the pair are widely considered to be UK’s hip hop supergroup. 1 Jan sees the Scratch residents mix up old and nu skool for a great big hip hop fest.

I Shebang at Wilkie House. 11pm-5am. £10(£8). 18 Dec. Monthly. The girls show you how it’s done when Miss Isle (Nice) and Jacqui Morrison join the very lovely Gail Sellars for a night of uplifting happy to hard house with a friendly mixed crowd. Definitely worth a look in.

Moving from The Vaults this year is the infamous 'l‘aste New Year‘s Day party. Those that haven‘t been to Taste in yonks, as well as the die hard regulars. make this their prime hash of the season and holy mother of God, you have never seen anything like it. l-‘isher & Price tend more to the big banging classics that make the dancefloor scream for more, and that's only half an hour after opening. Stuart Barrie and Martin Valentine look after the back room (only it’s upstairs at Gaia) in fine style. If you want to check this out (and we highly recommend that you do), get there early if you want to get in. Methinks that (iaia won‘t know what’s hit them.
