Best known for its 1956 film adaptation starring Henry Fonda, the tension in this dynamic play never drops despite taking place in just one room, as the jury members lock horns in the name ofjustice. Prince Rama And The Demons Thu 27 Jan—Fri 4 Feb (not Sat 29—Mon 31, Wed 2). 1.30pm (Thu 1.30pm & 7.15pm). In their first piece specially created for younger people, Scottish Ballet have been inspired by Javanese and Balinese traditions. Based on the Indian story of the Ramayana, the legend tells of how Hanuman the monkey god helps Prince Rama rescue his kidnapped wife. See preview.

Offenbach In The Underworld Sat 29 Jan—Sat 5 Feb (not Sun 30—Tue 1). 7.15pm. Scottish Ballet‘s new artistic director Robert North gets the ball rolling on this tenure with a new ballet inspired by the music of 19th century composer Jaques Offenbach. The ballet envisages Offenbach returning to Paris in the 20th century, where he meets such ‘modernists’ as Stravinsky. The piece is preceded by a curtain raiser entitled Miniatures, set to music by Stravinsky. See preview.
