A new night at the wee Attic that could really do with your support. Euan James (remember his techno club Lift?) and up and coming Mikey Ameno play a range of house, tech house and big beat; all in all something a little different for your Thursdays. Well worth a look in.

I The Gilde Saloon at The Guilded Saloon. 6pm—1am. Free. Weekly. A new inner-city hangout for the suave and sophisticated in Edinburgh, and if they don’t show, then there’s always us to prop up the bar. With In Demand behind it, you just know that all your fave DJs will be roped into bringing along a few boxes of vinyl, while those who appreciate the finer things in life can admire David N. Mclntyre’s new exhibition Superstar DJs on the walls.

I Rebel Waltz at City Cafe 2. 9.30pm—lam. Free. 24 Mar. Fortnightly. As resident Murray Richardson jets off down the American west coast, Marco Smith (Vestx Competition winner) steps up to take the reigns. He’s a talent to watch, and you’ll be able to do it for free tonight.

I Roadblock at P0 Na Na. 11pm—3am. £3. Weekly. Nicci digs up the best in funk, disco, house, timeless gems and block rocking beats.

I TFI Friday at Club Mercado. 5-10pm. Free. Weekly. No ginger freaks here (thank the merciful Lord), just good ‘old fashioned after-work mayhem, hosted by everyone’s favourite good time girl, Trendy Wendy.

I What It Is at City Cafe 2. 8pm—1am. Free. 17 Mar. Fortnightly. An extra special What It Is tonight as Parallax Records celebrate their launch. Bob Cairns will be joined by Eh?Wun!, Professor Plastic, and the Parallax DJs for some jazz, funk and grooves. See Club News.

I Apex at Studio 24. lOpm—Sam (tbc). £7 (£5). 31 Mar. Monthly. Utilising two floors, Apex go all out to celebrate their second birthday tonight with seven hours of hard house, acid trance and techno. Biomechnoid will be playing a live technO/hard trance set, joining the Sativae Drummers as well as the full resident line up of Steve Pace, Al Space, Medicine Man, Phil Zero, Julz, Kam the Beard and Neil T. Monthly. ‘The past, the present and the future of tropical dance music is here’, say the promoters, creating a club that our readers voted as one of their favourites in our last Reader’s Poll. Attracting a slightly older crowd (so no gurning fifteen year olds, then) this salsa, African, Latin and Carib night is always worth a look in.

I Ascencion Goth Club at Cas Rock. 9.30pm-1am. £4 at door; £3 in advance. 17 Mar. Monthly. Passion Play are the guest band, joining DJ James and Gordon playing goth and alternative.

It’s another party, this time brought to you by the letter P. l hope my pineapple-sized pimples clear up in time, so I can prance about E2K like the ponce I really am, perving on pretend DJs all night long. I think that Perchanski is going to come dressed as a penis with plastic . . . oh, that’s how he usually looks anyway (see Four Play).
