Two's company in L’Ennui, Cédric Kahn's assured adaptation of Alberto Moravia’s post-war Italian novel about a romance between a philosophy professor and a teenage girl. Kahn himself is in good company with his screen version of a Moravia book: Jean-Luc Godard previously filmed Le Mepris and Bernardo Bertolucci shot The Conformist, both of which films were also highly rated.
