I Bite Me at Bar Jedi. 8pm. £2. 4 May only. A multi-media extravaganza featuring the whole blood-sucking shebang, from themed cocktails to games, multi-media entertainment and giveaways. And it’s on a full moon.

I Burd Called Ger at Eat Drink Man Woman. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. A new night at a new venue for Ms Ger featuring hip hop, funk and reggae and aimed at a student crowd.

I Deejays In Disguise at The Variety Bar. 8pm-close. Free. Weekly. The Knucklehead crew take a breather from their usual hectic style and concentrate on the dubbier end of the techno spectrum.

I Drum 81 Bass at Bar 10. 7pm—late. Free. Weekly. As the name suggests, it’s d&b all the way at the city centre style bar, courtesy of Stephen Struthers.

I Free Party Power at The Living Room. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Quality underground house action, spiced up with a bit of skewed disco.

I Nomad at Nomad. 7.30pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. New pre-club with resident ‘Donut’ Jay joined by Kris Keegan, Ian Thompson and AJ spinning the best house sounds.

I Pousey Cafe at Air Organic. 8—11pm. Free. Weekly. Shifting up a gear after the move from Sun nights, the Jengaheads get you stoked up for a night out with a mixed bag of beats, from electro through to house.

I Phatboy's Kitchen at McChuill’s Way Out West. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Hip hop, breaks and beats courtesy of G Man and The Wax Monkey.

I Virunga at Brel. 9pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. A top selection of tunes with a world bias, including soca, Latin dance, African and reggae.

I 1210 at Babaza. 8pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Top notch house, garage and trance from [an Thompson and David Gilmore, renowned for keeping the crowd on their toes and dropping the odd surprise track. in a bid to encourage new talent, the residents step down between 8—11pm, turning over the Technics to up- and-coming DJs. I Alaska at Alaska. 10pm—3am. £5. 27 Apr only. Miguel Migs of Naked Music fame joins Stevie ‘Soul’ Middleton, Schull and Ewan Kelly.

I Bennet's at Bennet’s. 11pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Shawn delivers a commercial dance mix in the main room, while Annie supplies 705 and 803 hits at this gay club.

I Booty Jam at The 13th Note Club (upstairs). 10pm-3am. Free entry before 11pm; £3 after. Weekly. Lazarus and Company with a potent mix of beats, taking in anything from rare groove to underground hi hop via da funk.

I Breakin’ Point at The 13th Note Club (basement). 9pm-3am. Free before midnight; £2 after. Weekly. As the name suggests, an evening of electronic breaks and beats.

I Bug-a-boo at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. John Lyons, Martin Hesketh and James Fullerton take it in turns to provide the R&B and soul selections.

I Caliente! at Havana Bar. 6pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Top-notch Latin sounds, with all hip-shaking genres covered thanks to residents Keith, Alexis and Geo D.

I Casino Royale at The Apartment.

1 lpm—3am. £4. Weekly. Bossanova beats, Hammond grooves, soundtracks and loungecore from your hosts Frankie Savaloy and Kirk St Moritz. Additional entertainment value added by the Bedazzled comedy collective and Monty Cantsin of Beat Room fame.

I Come Correct at Trash. 10pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. The brand new night showcasing all things hip hop continues with the Come Correct residents showing that they too can cut the mustard.

I Columbian at The Asylum Back Room. 8pm—1am. £1 (free to CUSU members). Weekly. Music with breaks, from hip hop and big beat to soul and funk

I Cop at Archaos. 11pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Absolutely colossal student night with Vance and CJ supplying hard partying house anthems in the main room and daft classics from Tam Coer downstairs.

I Dazed 8: Confused at Qudos (Queen Margaret Student Union). 7.30pm—2am. £2 (£1)— students and up to four guests. Weekly. Live music every week from aspiring local talent until around 10.30pm, when the residents take over, spinning a retro set encompassing funk, soundtracks and indie classics.

I Freedom at The Shed. 10pm-3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Paul N’Jie with a smooth mix of garage, funk and commercial house.

I Pimp at Planet Peach. 11pm-3am. £4. Weekly. Steve Gaston pumps out the funkiest disco and lightens the blend with the occasional kitsch classic.

I Go Bang at Reds. 11pm—3am. £3. Weekly. GK Machine, Glenn C, Jay Hay and Guy spin a varied techno selection. I Hi Karate at The Glasgow School of Art. 10pm-2am. Free before 11pm; £1.50 (£1) after. Weekly. Andrew Divine and Neil McMillan are joined on 11 May by the Battlecreek posse, celebrating the second release on illicit from the Deadly Avenger’s breakbeat project. Alongside the Avenger, Touche, Andy Organic Audio and Portishead DJ Andy Smith are set to man the decks.

I MFI at Universe (Coatbridge). 11pm—2.30am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Big telly man Ewan MacLeod and DJ Bob with a disco-tinged selection of house old and

new.

I Rhythm And Blues at Life. 10pm—3am. £5. Weekly. A night of top- notch R&B with Paul Traynor (Babaza) joined by Naeem and Stuart McCallum. I Skint at The Cathouse. 11pm-3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Tough chemical breaks and beats, rock and indie for a studenty crowd.

I Skycop at Skybar (Archaos). 11.45pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. The posh bit of Archaos thrills to the deep house stylings of Ryan Kerr, as the regular student night packs them in downstairs.

I Special Favours at The Glasgow School of Art (Vic Bar). 10pm-2am. £1. Weekly. An evening from the self- prbclaimed ‘goddesses of sound’ DJ Mingo-go and LJT Bosom, who promise to provide everything from naff pop to cheesy beats via sleazy electro.

I Thursday Is Enough at Club Budda. llpm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Disco and house from Stevie Smith.

I Tune! at g2. 11pm—3am. Free entry before 11pm; £3 (£2) after. Weekly. Simon Morrison and Andy Horn select brand new house and trance, plus lbiza favourites to jog the memory.

Absolutely crackers student night, stuffed to the gunnels every time with kids sharking to the sounds of chart hits, indie favourites and lowbrow house. I Superstar at Trash. 11pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Party tunes, pop and indie aves for students and the like-minded. I Klass at Destiny. 10pm-3am. £2 before 11pm; £3 after. Weekly. Casual night at the new wrought-iron exhibition- cum-club, with commercial sounds. This is the only time when denim and trainers are acceptable apparel here, so you don’t have to iron your Ben Sherman.

I Paul Cawley at Air Organic. 9pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. in addition to running Soma’s break beat sister labels Fenetik and Psy Phi, Paul Cawley warms up for the weekend with brand new breaks, hip hop and drum & bass.

I The Pleasure Lounge at Ad Lib. 5-9pm. Free. Weekly. Something of a pre pre-club this, for those who get tipsy at tea time, with Special Favours resident DJ Mingo-go spinning the usual eclectic selection, from lush pop to electro via ‘phuturistic sleaze’.

I Radar at The Cross Bar. 8pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. Wiggy selection of esoteric dub and progressive techno.

I Russell's at Russell’s. 6pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. DJ Yaw kicks out the best R&B, hip hop and swingbeat.

Firehorse Foundations A bit of a change for the splendid pre-club this month, with an all east coast line-up concentrating on the deeper end of the house spectrum. Marco Smith, winner of the Vestax Mixing Championships, and Murray Richardson man the 12105, while Covac does his live thing. Alaska, Sat 29 Apr.

lli Karate The Art School has been no stranger to top notch guests of late, and tonight sees a superb line-up in celebration of the release of the second Battlecreek EP on Illicit Recordings. The Deadly Avenger (scary strings expert and label boss) lS joined by Portishead Dl Andy Smith, who makes his recording debut with the Battlecreek release; Andy Organic Audio and Touche of The Wiseguys (pictured) also guest. Inside Out Not content with bringing us the best housey talent every month, the Inside Out crew are presenting a massive double header this time, with the festivities taking place simultaneously at The Arches and The Barras. The Dls, who will be wandering from venue to venue, include Tall Paul, Brandon Block, Sister Bliss, Jon Kelly and Primo Mass. The Arches and Barrow/and, Sat 29 Apr. Multifunlttion There’s a bit of a Manchester invasion of Glasgow taking place over the next few weeks, and this should be one of the best events, featuring as it does talent from the Twisted Nerve stable. Joining reidents Gerry Love and Nick Peacock are Badly Drawn Boy and genius remixer Andy Votel. Alaska, Sat 29 Apr. Ouch The itinerant Ouch organisation have secured something of a coup this month with a DJ set from the hugely popular Groove Armada augmenting the always excellent live performances from Engine and Ground Control. See preview. The Temple, Sun 30 Apr. Pressure We always draw attention to the goings-on at Pressure, and no wonder; this time around it’s a Best of British theme including guest slots from Mr C (ex-Shamen and the man behind The End), the peerless Darren Emerson and Swag. The Arches, Sat 28 Apr.

Alkemie A brand new monthly night featuring all things drum & bass, with the considerable DJ expertise of Beat 106er Tania Swift, Poise, Mark and Spore. The 73th Note Cafe, Fri 28 Apr and Fri 5 May.
