GLASGOW SATURDAYS: CLUBS continued

I Triumph at The Tunnel. 10.30pm—3.30am. £9 (£7). Weekly. Colin Tevendale and Steven MeCreery supply the dressed-up glamour kids with progressive house and trance in the main room while Kevin MacFarlane and Stephen Lee mix up garage, disco and vocal house in room two. If you’re not wearing awfully nice clothes, however, don’t expect to get in.

I 2 Tons of Fun at Club Budda. 11pm—3am. £6. Weekly. Geoff Montford and Chris Harris get funky with a bang up-to-date selection of disco house.

I Ultima at Alaska. 10pm—3am. £8. 13 May. Monthly. GK Machine and Twitch spin their special blend of hi- tech post-disco sounds from the century so far.

I Velvet Rooms at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm—3am. £4 before midnight; £8 after. Weekly. Stevie Smith breaks out the club classics, garage and house in the main room while Raymond Woods cools things down with hip hop and R&B in room two.

I Yang at Yang. 11pm—3am. Free before midnight; £5 after. Weekly. Making full use of their three rooms, you can now catch Colin Gate and Dribbler in the main room with disco, New York garage and house, Andy Young and Nick Peacock do their Latin jazz thing with live percussion from Gee. Last but not least, Scott Ferguson and Rhonamok man the decks in the upstairs bar. As if that wasn’t enough, Maurice Fulton, Face magazine’s DJ of the month and Basement Boys founder (remember Crystal Waters?), brings his ultra-classy NYC brand of house on 20 May.

I Classic FM at Fury Murry’s. 11pm—3am. £6 (£4). Weekly. Downstairs features a mix of dance classics and party tunes, with a dash of indie added to the mix upstairs.

I The Garage at The Garage. 10pm—3am. £5 (£3) before 11pm; £6 (£4) after. Weekly. Super-commercial party sounds on the main dancefloor and indie classics in The Attic.

I Seduction at Destiny. lOpm—3am. £6 before 11pm; £7 after. Weekly. Tonight the iiber club would like you to ‘dress to impress’ while enjoying the usual commercial house ‘n’ trance pap.

I Divine Intervention at Brel. 8.30—11pm. Free. Weekly. Hush Puppy of Divine fame plays a smooth, relaxed soul selection to wind down the weekend.

I Fresh at Mojo. 9pm—late. Free. Weekly. Let the Fresh crew chill you out before the stress of the week ahead. Resident Gary Lawson is joined by regular guests Paul Hughes (Mau Sound System) and Barry Johnstone.

I G-Man and Traxx at The Living Room. 4pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. It is now possible to write off the Sabbath in its entirety while enjoying some top- notch tunes, thanks to the Living Rooms double bill. The afternoon shift is taken care of by G-Man, with his beats and hip hop. From 9pm, things get a bit livelier thanks to underground house from Simon and Derek.

I Li/Lo at Reds. lllpm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Oscar (Mish Mash) and Harri (Subculture), sparring partners of old, join forces for some funky deep house. I Massive at The Velvet Rooms. Monthly. Next date 28 May.

I Optimo at Planet Peach. 11pm—3am. £5 (£4). Weekly. If you think about it really hard, Wilkes and Twitch are entering into a revolutionary Socratic dialogue betwixt man and machine. Or something. Suffice to say, you can count on wiggy-assed knob twiddling, spooky electronic black arts and thumping death disco selections.

I Sun at Trash. llpm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. House, garage and student classics from Jim Da Best, with drinks for £1 all night.

I Sunday at Strawberry Fields. 9pm—late. £15. Weekly. Fifteen nicker might seem a bit steep for a night down Strawberry Fields, but in addition to banging ltouse anthems and saucy dancing girls, the bar is totally and utterly free. Much like a stomach pump on the NHS.

I Technique at The l3th Note Club (both floors). 1 1pm—3am. £2. Weekly. A new name. but the sounds stay the same: a quality selection of indie, ancient and modern from DJ Gavin of Camera ()bscura.

I Taboo at The Velvet Rooms.

1 1pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. DMG provides the classic soul, funk and R&B. I Voyeurism at Archaos. llpm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. A perv’s paradise, with peep hole performances, non-specific fake shagging and a general atmosphere of muckiness. Oh, and there’s music too, with Mark Sherry and Paul Mendez spinning upfront, uplifting house in the main room, Naeem rocking downstairs with his hip hop selections and Paul Traynor and Naeem providing R&B cuts in the Skybar.

I Phat Dave at The Living Room. ()pm—l lprn. Free. Weekly. Starting the week with ‘hedmuzik 4 beatfreakz’, which translates into English as hip hop, breaks, beats and the like.

I Playstation League at Bar Jedi. ()prn—midnight. Free. Weekly. For kids sore of thumb and pallid of complexion. A case of lager is up for grabs for the top gun gamer, assuming they can drag themselves away from the ‘station at home.

Club

I Burn at The Apartment. 11pm—3am. Free for staff of arty pub or club; £3 to everyone else. Weekly. A top party atmosphere guaranteed thanks to the thumping dance classics unleashed by Norm attd Richard.
