European director of renown Andre Engel is at the helm for Scottish Opera’s production of Richard Strauss’s biblical re-telling. Soprano Helen Field (last seen in Ines de Castro) plays the eponymous seductress and Richard Armstrong is at the baton. Sung in German with supertitles.

I Schumann's House Party Paisley Arts Centre, New Street, 887 1010. 7.30pm. £8 (£4). Robin and Kim Colvill recreate an imaginary night in the Schumann household featuring music by Brahms, Chopin and Liszt as well as narration explaining the relationships between the Sehumanns and these composers.

First performed at the 1999 Edinburgh International Festival, this acclaimed production of Verdi’s Shakespearean adaptation comes from the directorial hand of Luc Bondy. Richard Zeller and Kathleen Broderick return to the lead roles, and conductor Richard Armstrong is at the baton. Sung in Italian with supertitles.
