Mr Meltdown, Mikey Magic and Covalent weave their wicked drum & bass and techno tunes downstairs, with a more mellow selection of ambient grooves upstairs from Sanskrit. Tonight’s guests are Concussion (live) downstairs and DJ Khan up-back.

I Funk Junkies at La Belle Angele. 10.30pm—3am. £4 (£3). 15 Jun. Fortnightly. A funk, soul and groove selection from DJs and house band, which features members of Elemental and The Ugly Groove Movement.

I La Honda at The Bongo Club. 10pm-3am. £4 (£3). 8 Jun. Monthly. Scratching meets projection with DJs Dutch Schultz, Trystero Sound System, Ritchie Rufftone and Kohoutek. I Jazz Joint at Jazz Joint. 9pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Band on stage 9.30pm. The Martin Kershaw Band, fronted by saxophonist Kershaw, take their turn on 15 Jun, with classic jau piano outfit the Tom Findlay Trio taking over on 22 Jun. Joseph Malik minds the decks.

I Love Breaks at Po Na Na. 11pm-3am. £2. Weekly. DJs Simone and Dr Jon play new and old classics from the realms of Latin, soul, R&B and disco.

I The Moneyshot at The Bongo Club. 10.30pm—3am. £4. 22 Jun. Monthly. An artwork hip hop funk fusion featuring turntable talents this month from DJs Getsum and Dr Gorm, play a live set from One Unit.

I Rotary Funk at The Venue (top floor). 11pm—3am. £4 (£2). 15 Jun. Monthly. The emphasis is on the funk as residents Chuck, Lorne and Sacha Robotti play out the best of the genre, revisiting its roots and taking it right up to the present day with hip hop, house, disco and breaks.

I Snatch Club at The Liquid Room. 10.30pm—3am. £3.50 (£2.50). Weekly. From the crew behind Barry Cabanas comes the holiday camp from hell. Join Kernal Snatch and his team of Redcoats at Boroughballs, home of sick jokes, sleazy tunes and vomit-inducing drink promotions.

I Vamp at La Belle Angele. 10pm—3am. £5. 22 Jun. Monthly. A brand new night which sees a hard house collaboration between residents Simon Foy (of Ark fame) and Donna Love. The guests at tonight’s launch will be Anne Savage, alongside Alan Joy and Mark Price of Taste, accompanied by the winner of Vamp‘s DJ competition.

I Rebel Waltz at City Cafe 2. 9pm—lam. Free. 16 Jun. Fortnightly. After last fortnight’s birthday antics, tonight’s event features a re-scheduled date for Sunburn Records’ Aljay. For those of you who didn’t read the last issue of The List, Sunburn is the San Fran home forjazzy, out-there beats, and Aljay is a regular at the notorious ‘Sticky Trumpets’ nights. As always Murray Richardson resides.

I T.F.I. Friday at Club Mercado. 5—10pm. Free. Weekly. Serving the city’s after-work posse for six years now, T.F.l. Friday brings together the vital ingredients of cheap alcohol and party tunes in an atmosphere controlled by Trendy Wendy.

I Underworld Vibes at Bannermans. 9pm—1am. Free. Weekly. Sean Pearson and Neil Ferguson go all garage and house.

I Apex at Studio 24. Monthly. Apex jumps a week, with the next date being 30 Jun.

I Arakataca! at The Bongo Club. llpm—3am. £5. 23 Jun. Monthly. DJs Zuppe lnglese and Jaffar cook up a tropical concoction of Afro, Latin and Caribbean beats.

I Big Beat at La Belle Angele. 10.30pm—3am. £6 (£5); £2.50 before 11.30pm. 9 Jun. Monthly. A change of venue (yes, it’s really at La Belle Angele this time, we promise) for Big Beat, but it’s the same old top quality danccfloor jazz tunes, not to mention live guests, who this month come in the form of New York funksters Sugarman Three, fronted by scorchin’ saxophonist Neal Sugarman. Their latest album Soul Donkey is out on Desco.

The best clubs this fortnight

Nomad Continuing their assion for top quality guests, regardless of their genre, the Nomad crew welcome Cut Master Swift. A DMC World Champ many moons ago, Mr Swift's talents have only increased with age. Wilkie House, Fri 9 Jun.

Copa Cabana No, not a Barry Manilow tribute night but a one-off Latin ball, featuring every decadence Central America can offer. There's cocktails, cigars, dancing, DJs and live music from tuxedo-clad ten-piece Conjunto Sabroso. The Assembly Rooms, Sat 70 Jun.

Pure Regular guest Derrick ’Strings Of Life’ May pops in this fortnight enjoy it while you can because, when these guys are gone, it won’t be every fortnight that you get to experience a techno legend first hand. The Venue, Fri 9 Jun.

Saturday Night Live Expect a massive hip hop-funk-fused fest as Scratch and Motherfunk get together for this new monthly event. It’s access all areas, with three floors of entertainment, including First Rate, Mr Thing, Jasper The Vinyl Junkie and the Kolabz crew. The Venue, Sat 77 Jun.

Sublime It's Sublime's fifth birthday, so get down there and give them a great big sweaty hug. Joining the ressies are X-Dream (Blue Room Recordings) for a live set, and the top floor is going to be turned into one big chill-out, with massage, trippy visuals and fresh fruit (to perk you up for the party afterwards). Animate Edinburgh-based action group Tangents are behind this all-day event, which features creative and issue-based workshops (the best of which has to be 'Spews, Shites And Sleepless Nights’, dealing with parenting) during the afternoon, and a club night in the evening with a funky techno slant. Studio 24, Sun 17 Jun. Spectrum ’How can you beat the sunshine on Leith?’ Well, a brand new night of international beats from one Joseph Malik would certainly improve things we reckon. United Getting together for a good cause are 015 from Joy, Taste, Luver and Shebang. Maggie Joy (pictured), Gail Sellars and Tommy Kay will be banging out the hard house to raise money for AIDS memorial charity The Names Project. Truly music for body and soul, then. Wilkie House, Sat 17 Jun.
