Shes a girl agut town, Edinburgh's queen of kitsd'i. In fact there's not a lot of places you can go without bumping into Wendy Wendy. With a necord collection ranging from disco and country classics to dance favourites, not to mention some top notch breaks, she’s much in demand. One appointment she’s sure to be keeping this month though is the fifth birthday of her renowned monthly dieese-fest Tackno. The theme is ’famous fives' so think boybands, Thunderbirds and Enid Blyton and you’ll be on the right lines.

~ ~~ hum/N. », Mr Scruff: 'Get A Move On' (Ninja Tune) This has to be one of the best records of the last year, and Mr Scruff is booked to play at Headspin in October.

Spiller: ‘Groovejet [If This Ain't Lovel' (Positiva)

I would have described it as an easy listening house track originally, but now there’s an additional vocal on it which goes perfectly with the instrumental.

Markus Nikolai: ‘Bushes' (Classic)

One of my favourite girlie house records just now it’s beautiful and dead summery.

Shirley Bassey remix package (white label)

Really good remixes of three great Shirley Bassey tracks . . . this is a must! % Tackno at Club Mercado, Edinburgh, Sun 30 Jul
