I Fast Forward at Eat Drink Man Woman. 4pm-12pm. Free before 6pm; £3 after. Weekly. House music and chart anthems, with drinks promos an added bonus.

I Fresh at Mojo. 9pm—late. Free. Weekly. Let the Fresh crew chill you out before the stress of the week ahead. Resident Gary Lawson isjoined by regular guests Paul Hughes (Mau Sound System) and Barry Johnstone. I G-Man 8: Traxx at The Living Room. 4pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. It is now possible to write off the Sabbath in its entirety while enjoying some top- notch tunes, thanks to the Living Room’s double bill. The afternoon shift is taken care of by G-Man, with his beats and hip hop. From 9pm, things get a bit livelier thanks to underground house from Simon and Derek.

I Hi-T at Tchai-Ovna. 4—10pm. Free. Weekly. A Sun relaxation session aimed squarely at those after a spot of detoxification, since the venue is a non- smoking tea shop that looks like an opium den. The tunes, courtesy of a huge number of local DJs, are drawn from every genre under the sun, as long as they’re laid-back. Drink obscure teas, play chess, give your body a rest. I Low Down Tunes at Four Cafe Bar (CCA). 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Melodic breaks and beats.

I Nick Peacock at The Variety Bar. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Local hero Nick Peacock selects the best jazz grooves, with the occasional foray into house.

I Bennet's at Bennet’s. 11.30pm—3am. £3. Weekly. Tom plays tunes loved by twelve-year-old girls, plus some bangin’ handbag, to equally appreciative gay men. Funny old world. I Bite at The Cathouse. 10.30pm—3am. Free entry before 11.30pm; £2 (£1.50) after. Weekly. A milder mix of indie and rock than you’ll find at the city’s premier rock venue on Fri or Sat.

I Club Tropicana at The Garage (Attic). 11pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Indie, both classic and contemporary, with a healthy dose of Britpop.

I Cocoyan at The Apartment. 11pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. A new night of dancehall, R&B and soca- Latino fusion from Puppa Shango (Joints & Jams) and newcomer DJ Yaw. I Funk Sundays at Slave. 8pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. House with Chicago tendencies from Andy Guest, plus live percussion courtesy of Andrew Horn. I Liquid Cool at Babaza. 9pm—3am. £5. Weekly. A.J., Kris Keegan and tan Thompson playing top-notch vocal garage and house to a club packed with hyper-hedonistic twentysomething revellers, all of whom seem to have forgotten that they have work in the morning. 1f quality tunes and glamorous antics are your bag, Suns at Babaza are unmissable.

I Liquid Gold at Q. 5pm-3am. Free before 11pm; £5 after. Weekly. Funky tunes and club classics from Harry B., Scott McMillan and Paul Traynor at this bar-club in association with Babaza’s hedonistic extravaganza, Liquid Cool. Not to be confused with the popular ‘room deodoriser’ of the same name.

I Li/Lo at Reds. 10pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Oscar (Mish Mash) and Harri (Subculture), sparring partners of old, join forces for some funky deep house. I Optimo at Planet Peach. llpm-3am. £5 (£4). Weekly. Wilkes, Twitch and the gender-confused electronic tyke known as Roland pour corrosive liquids onto the twitching corpse of contemporary dance music. This results in blinding clouds of acrid sonic smoke (equal parts electro, techno, funk and death) that never fail to intoxicate the kids, drawn to the arcane discotronic alchemy by forces they will never, ever understand. And the drink’s din cheap, too.

I Sin at Trash. 11pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. House, garage and student classics from Jim Da Best, with drinks for £1 all night.

I Sunday at Strawberry Fields. 9pm—late. £15. Weekly. Fifteen nicker might seem a bit steep for a night down Strawberry Fields, but in addition to banging house anthems and saucy dancing girls, the bar is totally and utterly free. Much like a stomach pump on the NHS.

I Sunday Worship at Club Budda. 11pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. Michael Kilkie and Simon Foy do their uplifting house thing.

I Technique at The 13th Note Club (both floors). 11pm—3am. £2. Weekly. A quality selection of indie, ancient and modern, from DJ Gavin of Camera Obscura.

I Taboo at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm-3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. DMG provides the classic soul, funk and R&B.

I Voyeurism at Archaos. 11pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. A perv’s paradise, with peep-hole performances, non-specific fake shagging and a general atmosphere of muckiness. Oh, and there’s music too, with Mark Sherry and Paul Mendez spinning upfront, uplifting house in the main room, Naeem rocking downstairs with his hip hop selections and Paul Traynor and Naeem providing R&B cuts in the Skybar.

I Loose at The Variety Bar. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Alt.country, classic 70s rock and blues from Paul Shields.

I Phat Dave at The Living Room. 9pm—1 1pm. Free. Weekly. Starting the week with ‘hedmuzik 4 beatfreakz’, which translates into English as hip hop, breaks, beats and the like.

I Playstation League at Bar Jedi. 9pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. For kids sore of thumb and pallid of complexion. A case of lager is up for grabs for the top gun gamer, assuming you can drag yourselves away from the ‘station at home.

Club

I Burn at The Apartment. 11pm-3am. Free for staff of any pub or club; £3 to everyone else. Weekly. A top party atmosphere guaranteed thanks to the thumping dance classics unleashed by Norm and Richard.

I The Monday Club at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Chris Hesketh mixes up R&B, garage and house at this night. Entry is free to all shop, bar, restaurant and club staff, generously enough.

I Passionality at Planet Peach. 11.30pm—3am. £3 (£2 with fiyer). Weekly gay night that invites you to ‘come get passionate’. The music, courtesy of DJ Andy (Bennet’s/Sadie’s), promises to be cheesy chart, upfront house and handbag.

I Speedracer at The Garage. 10.30pm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. Indie classics with the odd daft party tune thrown in for the usual crazy crowd.

I Dub Night at The Variety Bar. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Stevie Donaldson (Bar 10) playing, oddly enough, dub.

I Club Salsa Sabrosa at Havana Bar. 8pm—midnight. £4 (£3.50). Weekly. DJs Keith and Alexis provide you with a cool night of Latin tunes, with merengue and salsa classes from 8pm.

I Bar10 at Bar 10. 7pm—late. Free. Weekly. A chance for aspiring DJ talent to get noticed: every week three bedroom turntablists spin their discs, the best being selected by the crowd, who then progress to the final, where DJs and promoters from various clubs grant the cream of the crop a chance to play at their venue or club.

I Eden at Alaska. 11pm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. One for the students, with the usual classics of academe downstairs thanks to Alan Ronald, plus some charging party tunes and a smattering of house upstairs from Scott Mackay of The Tunnel. Further proof that Tue are the new Thu.

I F.U.N. at Planet Peach. 11pm—3am. £3. Weekly. Gay night featuring the traditional hodge podge of cheesy chart action and camp handbaggage courtesy of DJ Georgie Boy and regular live PAs. I Media at Media. 11pm-3am. Price tbc. Weekly. A full-on flavoured mix from lain Thomson.

I Laid at The Temple. 10.30pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Student night with the cheesiest of cheese, regular tribute bands and the odd foam party.

I Goo Goo at The Velvet Rooms. llpm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Paul Melon claims to be ‘The King of Cheese’, while Dave Mulholland whacks out the commercial house and garage.

I Shooting Stars at The Garage.

11pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Gerry and Iain keep the drunk kids happy with charty house and po hits. I The Shimmy Clui’) at Bennet‘s. 11.30pm—3am. £3 (£1.50). Weekly. A straightish and studenty night at the gay venue, with Raymond Davren maintaining the party atmosphere.

I Slave Boy Tuesday at Slave. 10pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Hostess Ms Mi-Mi-Martini and resident Jon Fraser with handbag and hardbag albums at the club’s gay night.

I T.I.T. at Trash. 10.30pm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Grahame Ferguson and Robert and Scott Free spin upfront house in the main room, pop for the studes in room two and relaxed grooves. The kids love it, despite the name.

I Yang at Yang. 11pm—3am. Free before midnight; £3 after. Weekly. Northern soul and funk grooves from Gerry Love (Teenage Fanclub) and Chris Geddes (Belle And Sebastian). Live bands appear on an ad hoc basis upstairs.

I The Jengaheads at The Living Room. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Martyn Jengahead is at the helm of this night, which showcases new releases, acetates and the like.

I Fluid at The Polo Lounge. 10pm—1am. Free. Weekly. DJ Wayne Dixon mixes up classic funk, soul and disco with a dash of contemporary business, and there’s half price cocktails to make sure things go with a swing.

I Russell's at Russell’s. 9—11pm. Free. Weekly. DJ Yaw brings his world music extravaganza to the yuppie masses.

I Shu Hirata at The Cut De Sac. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Jazzy breaks, hip hop, electro, drum & bass: whatever gets played out, it’s bound to be the best available.

I Hotdog at Reds. 11pm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. An Anne Summers-sponsored night that's about to spice up your life. Music comes in the form of dance classics from Keith Pyper, but it’s the PVC underwear, joy juice and willy- shaped ice-cube makers that we’re after. I Joints And Jams at Planet Peach. llpm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. High calibre night of hip hop, swing and R&B from a rotating roster of DJ talent including Martin Hesketh, Puppa Shango, John Lyons. DMG and James Fullerton. I Overground at The Velvet Rooms. 11pm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. lndie sounds and chart classics from Joe McKay.
