Students on the RSAMD Master of Drama directing course get a chance to show what they’re made of with Edna Walsh’s tale of 17-year-old soul mates, Disco Pigs followed by Harvey Fierstein’s look at love and loss, 0n Tidy Endings.

Pygmalion Mon 23-Thu 26 Oct. 7.30pm. £6 (£4). Final year acting students perform George Bernard Shaw ’5 precursor to My Fair Lad .

2nd Singt Tue 24-Thu 26 Oct. 7.30pm. £6 (£4). A devised piece by fourth year Dramatic Studies students about the magic and paranormal in our lives.

Pieces Courtes Fri 20 & Sat 21 Oct. 7.30pm. £9 (£4). One of France’s most celebrated theatre companies, Theatres du Shaman, presents this programme of Beckett shorts, including Pas (Foot/ails) about a tormented daughter talking to her unseen mother.

Twelve Stars Thu 2-Sat 4 Nov. 8pm. £6 (£3). Bad Days presents this dark study of deception, which it describes as a murder mystery without suspense. New music from Adventures in Stereo provides the soundtrack.

Something There Thu 19-Sun 22 Oct. 9pm. £9 (£6). David Paul Jones and Graham Eatough’s new play based on Samuel Beckett’s poem Something There, which looks at themes of alienation and loss.

Just Pretending Fri 27 & Sat 28 Oct. 8pm. £6 (£3). 7:84 Theatre Company presents its response to the Section 28 debate, a show which takes gay relationships and places them in everyday situations: a quiet night in, a night out clubbing, an awful family lunch. A revealing look at what it feels like to be gay in Scotland today. Part of Glasgay.’ See feature.

Mother of Mine Thu 2 & Fri 3 Nov. 8.30pm. £5 (£3). A collaboration between RSAMD theatre students and Bi-G-Les Youth group, this devised piece explores the mother figure, from the Madonna to Victoria Beckham. Part of Glasgay.’ See feature.

Welsh choreographer Sean Tuan John hooks up once again with long-time collaborator Bert Van Corp for this exercise in absurd physical humour, kitsch and surreal 705 hedonism. presents this Russian/German dance drama set in a post-apocalyptic railway station. A potent mix of avant-garde theatre and pre-war Berlin cabaret, the piece features a haunting soundscape and some natty visual effects.

Willy Russell continues to prove that you don’t need the words Lloyd and Webber in your surname to write a successful musical. His award- winning tale of twin brothers separated at birth and brought up in very different worlds continues to pull the crowds and draw forth the tears.

Johnny Beattie Wed 25 Oct. 1pm. £3. Beattie recounts the highs and lows of a career spanning almost 50 years in showbusiness.
