I Undercover Brothers at The City Cafe. 8pm—1am. Free. Weekly. A live take on the pre-club scenario with saxophone and percussion accompanying the decks selection from Adrian, with lyrical enhancement from A]. (Yush Recordings).

I Ethos at Studio 24. llpm—3am. £3. 19 Oct. Monthly. Steave and D.H.B. provide the full-on trance and techno tunes.

I Future Primitive at The Venue (Cooler). 10.30pm—3am. £2. 2 Nov. Monthly. Refreshingly unpretentious (and cheap) crossover night where the residents casually skip from ambient electronica to techno and breakbeat.

I Gadges At Work at The Cocteau Lounge. 11pm-3am. £2. 19,26 Oct. Fortnightly. Those cheeky freaks Harvey and Neil Ferris continue their marvellous management of deep house and soulful garage. And by crikey, it’s cheap to get

I Genetic at The Citrus Club. 11pm—3am. £2. Weekly. Alternative, indie and lo-fi (it’s the new stadium rock) with drinks promos.

I Henry's Jazz Bar (formerly the Jazz Joint) at Henry’s Jazz Bar. 9pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Trumpeter David Gordon (Sun Ra Band) makes some kooky hoots (19 Oct), and youngjazz pianist Brian Kellock drops by with a guest or two (26 Oct, 2 Nov).

I .Iuve-Nation at The Bongo Club. 10.30pm—3am. £5 (£4 with flyer). 19 Oct. Monthly. The rejuvenated return of this early drum & bass night featuring Manga resident The General and Relentless playing a mix of old-skool jungle and drum & bass in the main room. Special guest Nist and Rotary Funk do the business out back.

I Kick-On at Studio 24. 10pm—3am. £4 (£3). 19 Oct. Monthly. New rock night featuring live bands.

I Love Breaks at P0 Na Na. 11pm—3am. £2. Weekly. DJs Simone and Dr Jon play new and old classics from the realms of Latin, soul, R&B and disco.

I The Moneyshot at The Bongo Club. 10.30pm—3am. £3. 26 Oct. Hip hop and funk from resident DJs Foly, Hood and Getsum at the club with the filthy name. I Perception at La Belle Angele has temporarily finished. The residents can, however, be found at Progression on Fridays.

I Snatch Club at The Liquid Room. 10.30pm—33m. £3.50 (£2.50). Weekly. Yes, the freaks are still running amok at this comedy cabaret sickfest from the crew behind Barry Cabanas. Join Kemal Snatch, Uncle Harold and their team of deranged Redcoats at Boroughballs, the holiday camp from hell. Expect to laugh (or be sick) until it hurts.

I Supafly at Noa. 11pm-3am. Free. Weekly. DJ Jon Flowerz supplies slices of soul, 705 and cheese.

I 3 Piece Sweet at The Cocteau Lounge. 11pm—3am. £2. 26 Oct. Fortnightly. Edinburgh’s most audacious party girls, Trendy Wendy, Sally F and Nicci throw caution to the wind on a fortnightly basis with cheap booze and damn hot tunes. Tonight is Sally’s birthday, so expect the party atmosphere to be still more intense. Just don’t wreck the sofas.

I Vortex at La Belle Angele. 10pm—3am. £5 (£4). 26 Oct. Monthly. After a succesful one-off last May, this trance night returns to the capital with a regular slot. Resiliant Machine and Flying Rhino’s Saruman guest. If the hard dancefloor action gets a little wearing, check out the pyrotechnics, drumming and assorted stalls. No Hobbits allowed.
