The best clubs in Glasgow this

Hi Karate Arguably the best Thursday night in town, Karate have been racking up the high calibre guests of late. This fortnight it's the turn of seminal hip hop label Rawkus, on tour With Mr Complex, the prosaically named DJ Crossfader and El Fudge. Expect hard-ass beats and expert decknological experiments. Mish Mash Who'd have thought it's been four years of rhythmic happiness at The Riverside? Oscar, Nordin, Devrn and Ian Whitelaw put the freshness back in celebration. Also appearing are acoustic drum & bass specialists Stonecut. Turn out the lights! The Riversrde Club, Sat 24 Nov.

Optimo As regular readers Will be aware, Optimo is the best thing since something really, really good. This fortnight sees two guest spots at the Sunday night brain-melter. First of all, peculiar Canadians Peaches (pictured) and Chilly Gonzales Will be shocking the innocent With their sleazy lust-funk on 19 Nov. To celebrate their recent Anschluss With an Austrian label, Cnut are set to play live on 26 Nov. Little is known of the local band, but seasoned Optimists Will be familiar With frontman lnnes Smith, better known as the faux-Teutonic minstrel fond of a spanking who Whips up a storm With regular appearances as ’The Angry German’. Pressure The club With more Hitlistings than any other over the past two years is espeCially deserVing of a mention this month, as it celebrates its second birthday. With typical aplomb, Stuart 8 Orde have roped in some huge names to make sure things go With a bang. Celebrity spinner FatbOy Slim, the only man in history to change his name from Quentin to Norman, is joined by Chicago hero DJ Sneak and Open To Torture type Billy Nasty. Could well get busy. Sabotage The Northern Irish invasion continues apace. This month, Anomali & Haphazard are joined by Paul Brown and Michael McKeown for drum <9 bass action in the Vic Bar.
