GLASGOW FRIDAY: PRE-CLUB continued

I Tap-Moi-La at The Tap. 9pm—midnight. Weekly. A new pre-club from, in their words, ‘just two more blokes playing their records in a pub.’ Fortunately Hush Puppy of Divine fame and Chris ‘Beans’ Geddes (he’s in some indie band, apparently) have corking collections taking in 605 pop, Wigan-centric soul, mod jazz and Latin grooves.

I Tektronic at Bar 10. 9pm-late. Free. Weekly. Harking back to the way it used to be at Bar 10 with Nik Craig (Syntax) and DJ Trace (Mad Dog) supplying a mix of deep house, techno, psychedelia and spacerock/krautrock.

I The Ark at The Tunnel. 10.30pm—3am. £7 (£5). Weekly. The mighty triumvirate of Scott Mackay, Michael Kilkie and Zammo keep the crowd on their toes with top quality hard house, while Simon Foy kicks out smooth vocal house and garage in the back room.

I Big Daddy at The 13th Note Club. 9pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Funk and jazz from Graham and Daniel, except they call it buttcrack beats, ring-stinging funk and Nagasaki noodlings. Quite.

I Bob Sinclair at Mas. 11pm-3am. £tbc. The super-cool Frenchman kicks off the first Friday night at the new venue.

I Buddasole at Club Budda. llpm—3am. £5. Weekly. Solemusic head honcho Stevie Middleton mans the booth at his seriously high calibre soulful house and garage night. I Bump 'N' Hustle at Babaza. 6pm-3am (DJs from 11pm). Free before 11pm; £5 after. Weekly. Paul Traynor and Raymond Woods with fine and funky R&B cuts, hip hop and some classic soul and funk thrown in to keep the capacity crowd going. Arrive early to avoid disappointment as this is one of the busiest regular Friday nighters around.

I Caliente! at Havana. 6pm—3am. Free. Weekly. Loco Latin action from the Salsa Sabrosa crew from 6pm through to the wee small hours.

I The Cathouse at The Cathouse. 10.30pm—3am. £1 before 11pm; £4 (£3) after. Weekly. Rock, grunge, indie and a dash of breakbeat across three floors at Glasgow’s top venue for rockers and alternateens.

I Club Mad Dog at The Soundhaus. Next date 24 Nov.

I Ethos at Q. 5pm—3am. Free before 11pm; £5 after. Weekly. New face at the decks Dominic Martin supplies the soulful Latin house and garage grooves.

I EuPhonic at The Temple. 11pm—3.30am. £6 (£4). Weekly. Trevor Reilly, Billy MacAtee and Paul Mendez spin trance and hard house with a funky edge to a packed- out club of up-for-it kids.

I Fresh at The Polo lounge. 11pm—3am. £5. Weekly. Michelle provides a loose mix of house and indie classics downstairs, while Andy rocks the Trophy Room with 803 and 905 hits at the top gay venue.

I G 'n' D at Archaos. llpm-3am. £5 (£4). Weekly. Dress smart and prepare to party in the main room with Ryan Kerr and David Gilmore spinning dance classics, garage and house from the commercial end of the spectrum, while Paul Traynor provides a collection of R&B, hip hop and soul cuts in the exclusive Skybar.

I Global at Universe (Coatbridge). 11pm—2.45am. £5. Weekly. Tunnel types Kevin MacFarlane and Stephen Lee spinning garage. vocal house and anthems. I Life at Life. 10pm—3am. £5. Weekly. Stuart McCallum mans the decks with a funk and soul selection.

I L.I.V.E at The Glasgow School of Art. llpm—3am. The Vic Bar is set to wobble to the sounds of Miami Bass from Hessle and Felix. Upstairs with drum & bass are Paul Reset, Morphy (live set) and special guest Total Science (Metalheadz) As ever, Noplex and chums are on hand to provide the scary visuals.

I Mad Dog at The Soundhaus. 11pm-late. £tbc. Two rooms of electro, tech and hard house from Nik Craig, McLeod, DJ Real, Trace and Borg.

I Media at Media. 11pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Media abandon their mainstream dance policy in favour of 705 and 805 classics, so grab your shoulder-padded suits and get on down.

I Mystec Beats at Rocksy’s Basement. 10.30pm-2.30am. (Buses from the Variety Bar at 10.30pm). It seems to be something of a birthday frenzy this fortnight, and Mystec are celebrating their fourth. The electro-bass crew are joined by Detroit underground hero Keith Tucker, ex of Aux 88.

I Octane at Alaska. 10pm—3am. £8 (£6). 24 Nov. Monthly. Derek Wallis and Steven McReery do their progressive house thing. I Pressure at The Arches. 10pm—4am. £14. 24 Nov. Monthly. Let’s face it, Pressure is always fab, but this time is extra special as Stuart & Orde celebrate two years of the monthly techno extravaganza. Guests include the rather famous Fatboy Slim, launching his new album in fine style, Chicago’s finest DJ Sneak back once again to keep the house kids on their toes, and Open To Torture man Billy Nasty. I Relief at Alaska. 10pm-3am. £8. Weekly. Business as usual for the Relief gang for the rest of this month, but make sure you keep 1 Dec free, as Halo and Hipp-E bring the other West Coast to this one.

I Sabotage at Glasgow School of Art. 10.30pm-3am. £8. 24 Nov. Monthly. Anomali & Haphazard, Paul Brown and Michael McKeown do the drum & bass thing in the Vic Bar. Upstairs, decknologists Phil Murray and Chris Caul are joined by Mani and Paul Hart of Primal Scream fame. See Hitlist.

I Soulsa at Ad-Lib. 9pm—3am. £3. Weekly. Smooth disco courtesy of Andy Unger, Rodger, Pete Murphy and Wayne Dixon, who are keen to show that disco doesn’t just mean filter-happy Frenchmen, preferring instead the genuine classics the revivalists sample.

I Str8 Up at Slave. 10pm-3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. Lovejoy and Robin with bouncing cuts ranging from vocal to hard house.

I Tantra at Trash. 10pm—3am. £5 (£4). Weekly. Pumping house action from The Tunnel’s Colin Tevendale and Lisa Littlewood, with more mellow house and disco in room two from DJ Roben.

I Vapour at The Arches. Launch of new house night on 1 Dec.

I Velvet Rooms at The Velvet Rooms. 10pm—3am. £7 (£5). Weekly. John Lyons with smooth R&B downstairs, plus Raymond Darvon spinning club classics upstairs.

I Yang at Yang. 11pm—3am. Free before midnight; £5 after. Weekly. Following the corker of an aftershow for their Love Boat Party, Tangent are all set to blend up disco, soul and whatever takes their fancy every week. Michael Peck is on hand to warm things up with blistering hip hop and funk in the top bar, before the mighty Goodfoot get Northern on your asses. Kushi, meanwhile, will continue to take it deep in the back room, so to speak.

I Cheesy Pop at Qudos (QMU). 10pm-2am. £2 (£1). Students and up to four guests. Weekly. Seven years on and rampant hordes of mucky-minded, vodka- fuelled urchins still flock to hear DJ Toast’s Edam selection. A riotous evening, with the emphasis on pure unashamed fun.

I Love Bug at The Garage. 10.30pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. insanely busy night of party tunes for students and youngsters.

Kris Keegan and A.J. rock the main room with house and garage, Ian Thompson whacks out the best in underground garage and dance classics in Betty’s, while members in the Skybar are treated to Paul Traynor‘s smooth R&B mix. In addition, the Archaos cast of performers bring a touch of the circus to Clubland with fire-eaters. stilt-walkers and dare-devil trapeze artistry.

I Havana Esperito at Canvas. £7. Weekly. DJ Jazz brings his Latino box of tricks to the merchant city’s newest venue, Canvas, where there’s no dedicated dancefloor, but there is classy service and an elegant, sophisticated vibe for those who’ve had enough of sweat with their salsa.

I High at Mas. 11pm—3am. £tbc. The first Saturday night at the new venue sees a special guest appearance from Rowan Blades of Bedrock.
