What is it with band names these days? Time was when all you had to do was use a one or two syllable common or garden word in everyday usage (Blur, Oasis etc) and you were sorted. But that’s not good enough for the new crop of incendiary American rock bands currently crossing the pond to grace these shores. This year has already seen the quirkily-monikered delights of . . . And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Queens Of The Stone Age play live in Scotland, and now it's the turn of At The Drive-In.

Named after a Poison song (yes, that's the 805 glam rockers Poison), the El Paso five-piece have released one of the albums of the year, Relationship Of Command, which sounds a bit like Jane’s Addiction, The Police, Metallica, U2 and Fugazi having a very nasty scrap in a mental ward. Probably. Running through it all is a sense of anger, desperation and desolation which has more than a little to do with the band's hometown , Don’t even think of stage-diving these guys
