Bach composed this music to be sung during services from the first to the twelfth day of Christmas. For those who wish to hear the whole oratorio there will be a supper break between parts three and four.

I Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Royal Concert Hall, 2 Sauehiehall Street, 287 5511. 7.30pm. £28—£60. You only have to look at the price of the tickets to know this concert is something special. The combination of conductor Simon Rattle, one of the world’s finest orchestras and Beethoven's epic fifth symphony should make this a night to remember. Haydn's Symphony No 88 and Berg's Lulu Suite complete the icture.
