Clubs Edinburgh

Mid week clubbing? Some said it wouldn't work but Ceratonin are proving the doubters wrong with the success of their regular Wednesday night trance and l techno showcase. Resident DJ Scott Pearce talks us through four of his favourites.

Praha Presents: ‘Xian Pachinko’ (Platipus) ‘The best part about this record is the deeply intensifying break down which gets any crowd hooked and leaves them waiting for the bass to kick back even harder to work them into an African frenzy! Top peak time tune.’

Man With No Name: ‘Revenge’ (Atomic Records) ‘Since the early days of acid house Martin Freeland has proved himself to be a pioneer of stomping dance floor classics. This track is no exception. A chunky bass drum and some acid squelches give it the energy that will surely get any crowd shaking their asses.‘

Marco V: ‘In Charge Part 1’ (Inner City Records) ‘A solid crowd pleaser that's built-up like the pieces of a jigsaw but when the pieces come together it definitely puts you

i in the picture with no doubt of where you are! Suddenly you are faced with 1 a banging bass line, a fast travelling

melody and some wicked funky

i drums.‘

Laurent Garnier: ‘The Man With The Red Face (Jan Driver Mix)’ (Mute) “Starts off very funky with a nice jazzy sax feel and progresses on to one of the most infectious riffs about at the moment which instantly makes yOur hair stand on end! The whole track could be described as starting out like a storm brewing with dark clouds and strong winds then ending up at a break in the cloud with clear blue sky and bright sunshine.’
