As her slavishly devoted sister tries to intervene. Ginger transforms frotn empowered teen to tragic monster. I)espite l-lollywood's long flirtation with lycanthropy. Where that master of larger than life samurai cinema. the late. great Akira Kurosawa. often emphasised the realistic with difficult on location shoots. it's as if ()shima wants to play up the dreamin mythic with a studio set design suggesting the whole samurai world could have been a wispy erotic liction. Heurtln‘vukers is both cheerfully amoral and charming. cynical and sweet. The cast are quite obv'iottsly having a ball and their enthtisiasm is delightfully infectious. General release.

Mitchell. star of the cult rock mUsical. gives it his all once more. directing. writing and acting in this lively and liberating film version of his stage collaboration with Trask. ()deon. Glasgow. The third and supposedly final instalment of Spielberg's blockbuster series. in which the archaeological adventurer is joined by his father (Connery) fora romp through the Middle East in search of the Holy Grail. hotly pursued (as ever) by the Nazis. L'nfortunately. the dastardly Claw (Everett) has a scheme for world domination. which includes creating an evil doppelganger of the trenchcoated wonder. An erect penis. cellulite. vivid oral sex. regular but urgent intercourse in an emotional vacuum between unhappy strangers in a grubby London flat on a dirty carpet. Chereau's brave English-language debut (adapted frotn Hanif Kureshi's short stories) jauntin flaunts it all. Intimacv offers tnuch more than a reassuring dose of voyeurism. A film composed of moments. it brilliantly turns the lens upon often overlooked relationships in middle-age. zooms in on the use of sex as a powerful anaesthetic and captures the self- loathing that often lives inside of lust. 'I‘ruffaut's early masterpiece. telling the comi-tragic tale of an eternal triangle straddling the First World War. The flimsy excuse to get the cast over to the Park is a young lad who has become stranded on the dinosaur island. An unofficial search party. headed by his parents (Macy and Leoni). hoodwink palaeontologist [)r Grant (Neill. reprising his role) into helping them out. Of course. things go wrong as soon as they arrive and they are attacked by a Spinosaur. a new and improved T—rex. From there on in the cast jump froin one perilous situation to another. A complete retread of the first two movies with even tnore dinosaur attacks. more ridiculous predicaments and bigger monsters. General release.

After his master dies halfway through a jousting tournament in medieval France. peasant William Thatcher (Ledger) dons his suit of armour and drags begrudging pals Roland (Addy) and Wat (Alan Tudyk) across Europe towards victory. Writer-director llelgeland's (1...»1. Confidential. Payback) liltn displays a playful sense of humour with its anachronistic soundtrack featuring Queen. David Bowie and other 70s rockers. and amusing allusions to the World Cup. And unusually it also emphasises character interaction so that the working class heroes are aided by Laura Fraser's widow-turned- blacksmitli and Bettany‘s scene-stealing gambler/poet ‘Geoff‘ Chaucer.
