THEO TRAVIS QUARTET

Saxophonist Theo Travis combines his love of contemporary jazz with an esoteric interest in genres ranging from prog rock (he plays with Daevid Allen's Gong) to ambient electro-acoustic soundscapes (with the duo Cipher).

In his most recent jazz album. last year's excellent Heart of the Sun. Theo felt that ‘the various strands were coming together a bit more. We touch quite a few bases on the gigs now.‘ he added. ‘and l worried a bit that it might be getting too diverse. but the reaction seems to be that it all hangs together well.’ Theo brings his quartet to the central belt at the end of an extended Highland tour. featuring Phil Peskett (piano). Andy Hamill (bass) and Marc Parnell (drums).
