Glasgow life

5 REASONS TO GO SEE . . .

GLASGOW ON ICE

1. Because it‘s tradition. Throw on your mittens and bobble hat. grab your nearest and dearest and make like Torvill and Dean on the open air ice rink in the middle of George Square.

2. There's no excuse not to. with skate hire for all sizes of feet (from kids size 5 to adults sizet 5) and skating instructions from the professionals to help first time skaters find their skating legs.

3. It's not just for kids. it's for grown ups too with displays. DJs and a bar (always advisable to wait until after

you've been on the ice before you hit the sherry). and the rink is open until late when those pesky kids will be in their beds.

4. It skating is not your bag you can always look interested and wave enc0uragingly while secretly drinking mulled wine. scoffing food from the attached cafe or shopping at the Christmas fair.

5. It's a welcome relief from all the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and gives you a chance to catch a piece of that festive fairytale feeling, just like on the Christmas cards. (Jane Hamilton)
