Terra Diabio do their bit for charidcc

With Glasgow shivering in the teeth of winter, the timing could hardly be better to launch a brand new monthly club called Cold.

The brainchild of Andy Butts and Peter Black, Cold aims to fuse the best DJs with rising stars of Scotland's live circuit. Glasgow five-piece Terra Diablo, who released their acclaimed EP ‘The Smoke’ late last year, will be the star turn on this opening night, playing early after the doors open at midnight. Augmenting their impassioned guitar slaying will be DJ sets from Overtone, who are Michael Peck - who’s played alongside luminaries including Mixmaster Mike, Scratch Perverts, Mr Scruff, Herbaliser, and Freddy Fresh - and Tom Reeve. This month the duo release their fourth EP, Big Mutha (Petillo de la Risa), on Glasgow’s Kushi label.

But Cold is not just about warming the cockles of Weegie clubbers with a combination of red-hot DJs and rearing live bands. The summer allows Butts and Black to indulge in their real passion: organising outdoor parties such as their legendary shebang at Ardfern, near Oban, last summer.

Cold is also clubbing with a conscience, and while the message might not be in your face, it’s some comfort to know that with artists performing free, proceeds from the club will be ploughed into the work of the Simon Community, which spends £5000 each year providing the city’s homeless with sleeping bags, hats and gloves, that could save lives. When the winter weather brings a much darker meaning to chilling out, it’s got to be the

easiest way to do your bit for charidee. (Vicky Davidson)
