The question is: can you leave the captain out of the combo and maintain the mercurial? Well, yes and no and maybe. In places this LP is too pristine somehow. not quite raucous and ridiculous enough — perfectly trained when it ought to be right off its hinges. But such is the talk of a champion churl. When it's good. this LP shows skyscraper ambition and underground ferocity. Rock'n'roll in totality. despite missing the genius one they call Don.
It has the spirit of what begat the White Stripes and anyone else worth listening to
Given that the world and his puppy dog are amalgamating genres these days, you might expect the rich muSical SOup of a Nitin Sawhney track to be somewhat passe. Yet this. Sawhney's sixth album. remains a Sublime listening experience. the composer maturing and raiSing his game above all the careless cobbling gomg on around him.
