NOELLE HOWEY Dress Codes w-1 «1110000 In Dress Codes. Noelle Howey tells the story of her family and how her father went from being a precious young boy to a man‘s man and finally to become a woman. She charts their journey, the changing relationships and how the three women are all trying to fit into the role of ‘female'. Noelle's parents. Dinah and Dick. are a couple who had a rather bland and sexless marriage. Dick had always fought against his female instincts and love of feminine clothes. His coarse personality kept him at a distance while Noelle was growing up, which suited her as she

discovered her own sexual awakening. Little did she know that the silky
underwear she secretly dressed up in actually belonged to her father. ‘Dad likes fuzzy sweaters too‘ was how Dinah tried to explain her
husband's preferences to Noelle. It was from here that her parents split
up, with dad deciding to dress full time as a woman and all three trying to rediscover their roles within the family as well as society. Rebecca Christine or Da (as Noelle now called her father) soon opted to go
through the gender reassignment operation and embraced womanhood
in all its feminine glory. As Da came to terms with her new role, Noelle and her mother threw a coming out party to celebrate.
Told with great wisdom and understanding, Howey keeps her story light-hearted, honest and amusing to create a life-affirming insight into the lives of three women and their search for acceptance. (Jane Hamilton)
