SOWETO KINCH

Birmingham-born saxophonist Soweto Kinch followed his success at the 2002 World Saxophone Competition with further honours, including a Mercury Prize nomination and a recent MOBO triumph as Best Jazz Act 2003. Grab the chance to check him out first hand when he ventures north to open Zigzag, a new monthly Glasgow club which aims to celebrate ‘the influence of classic jazz with the excitement of what is happening on the jazz scene now’ (see listings). Soweto will play a live trio set and also mix it up in improvised style with a Glasgow DJ. (Kenny Mathieson).
