David Gibson Hot on the heels of saxophonist Loren Stillman comes another young debutant from the New York scene, trombonist David Gibson (pictured). His influences are hard bop stars like the great J J Johnson. Curtis Fuller and Slide Hampton, but with a contemporary edge. He is joined by our own Colin Steele on trumpet. Jamie Oehlers The Australian saxophonist made an impressive debut at Henry‘s en route from the Montreaux Jazz Festival in July, where he had just won the World Saxophone Competition, beating Paul Towndrow in the process (the Aussie had come second to Soweto Kinch the year before).
