AWARDS PRIDE AWARDS 2003 David Leddy, festival producer of Glasgay! was among the list of prize winners at this year’s Pride Awards, held by PHACE Scotland.

Leddy scooped The List Events Guide Award for Art and Entertainment in recognition of the work he has done during his two years with the festival. He has brought internationally acclaimed performers and world premiere shows to the already impressive Glagay! Programme and has developed an all inclusive community element to the tenth year of the festival.

Patrick Harvie MSP won the Ian Dunn Memorial Award for Activism,

while the PHACE Scotland Award for Health was given to Alastair Pringle

of Inclusion Scotland.

Glasgow poet Edwin Morgan was given the Jackie Forster Memorial Award for Culture, and the Equality Network ‘Friend for Life’ Award was presented to Helena Scott from Age Concern Scotland.

PHACE Scotland organises the awards to acknowledge the many people and organisations that do tireless, and often unrecognised, work to promote and support the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transexual communities, and continue to promote equality, tolerance and respect.

This year’s awards ceremony - the sixth was held at the Polo Lounge’s trophy room in Glasgow. Previous winners include Ali Jarvis of Stonewall, the Steve Retson Project, the singer Horse, Chief Inspector Gavin Buist of Lothian & Borders Police and the Glasgow Women’s Library. The List itself was also honoured last year, winning the Jackie Forster Memorial Award for Culture for the listings and information in its gay pages. (Jane Hamilton)
