Skateboards are to art what synchronised swimming is to sport: a peculiar phenomenon that has grown into a monster that demands recognition in its own right. The only difference is that skateboards aren't silly and pointless. You'd think making use of the same 8x32 inch canvas could be pretty limiting but this trawl through the back catalogues of companies like Birdhouse. Zoo York or enjoi (pictured) proves otherwise. There seem to be unlimited opportunities for humour. style and political statement. And to think the fuckers just go and grind them out on the pavements once they get them.
