Cappella Nova - A Trme for Peace While certain citizens of the US were waging war against Saddam Hussain, American composer and peace campaigner Robert Kyr was busy using his musical ‘weapons of Mass construction' to write a new live movement work modelled on the form of a Mass. Minnesota Orchestra Finnish conductor Osmo Vanska. the former chief conductor of the BBC 880. IS back in Glasgow. but this time with the tOO-year— old Minnesota Orchestra. With him is stunning American violinist Joshua Bell. whose performance of the Tchaikovsky concerto will no doubt prove why he is regarded as one of the best in the world. Royal Concert Hall. Glasgow. Scottish Chamber Orchestra It's not only the BBC 880 that is celebrating Bartok at the moment. as the SCO teams up his Music for Strings Percussion and Celeste with Legends by Dvorak. a fellow eastern European composer who was also greatly influenced by folk music.
