Every so often a night comes along that goes against the grain in the most surprising of ways. Instant Access is almost the antithesis of most other club nights right now, eschewing ‘mullets, electro and minimalism‘ in favour of big tunes you‘re likely to know inside out, and (wait for it) having fun.
The aim, according to resident Tiff Peaches, is to ‘make it feel like a party at someone’s house, where you just chuck on all your favourites, stuff like Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, old disco classics.‘ Peaches and fellow resident Glenn C, both familiar faces on the Glasgow club scene, have hit upon something that's been lacking for a while. With their kitsch and camp, their disco sparkle and decadence, they've kicked out cool and set their own standards, giving people something to come back to again and again.
Peaches’ first love is Brazilian music. ‘I love the colour and the carnival, the unabashed celebration,‘ he says. Standing about looking cool is about as much of an option as a winter coat in Rio. And despite the night's accessibility, he insists the music isn't compromised: ‘We have standards. I mean, people who request Justin are told to fuck off.’ (Kenny Hodgart)
