How’s this for opulence? Not only is this debut night for new Glasgow club the National in association with Radio 1’s The Blue Room being held in the penthouse suite of the city’s Brunswick Hotel, but everyone gets a free drink on entry and a complimentary massage treatment if they want it. How the

other half live, indeed.

It’s not all about the perks, because there’s also a healthy musical line-up on offer. In the bar adjacent to the penthouse will be National residents Brad Carter and Dave Valentine, who provide an upbeat selection of smart crowd- pleasing classics, as well as an acoustic set by the creators of last year’s Ibiza

favourite, Polaroid.

In the main room will be co-presenters of Radio One’s Sunday morning chill- out show Rob Da Bank and Chris Coco. The founder of London’s Sunday Best night and former Muzik journo, Rob will be teaming up with Chris to provide a Balearic sound that should all but make us forget it’s still only Scottish springtime. Finally, Glaswegian electro outfit Salon Boris will be putting in an appearance on the back of becoming Blue Room favourites. Spoiled? . . . Us?

We’ll take it all, if it’s going. (David Pollock)
