Alter staging several low~key events over the last six months, up and coming Edinburgh-based collective A Different Kind are about to throw

their most ambitious party to date. ‘We try to put on something once a month, but this is the biggest thing we've put together yet,‘ says Bone Del, ADK founder-member and an MC with the Discipline. He’s not kidding. More than 25 DJs, artists and MCs will be ripping it up at the three-lloor extravaganza at the Venue, in a night that spans hip hop, drum & bass and funk. Included in the line-up are local figures like ENO, the Treasury and Ulysses, plus bigger names like

1Xtra's Sappo and Skitz.

ADK isn't just a gathering of musicians it's far more . ambitious that that. Graphic designers and filmmakers are involved and they'll all play a role in the collective‘s long-term aim. 'We want to promote local talent from Edinburgh and Glasgow,’ says Bone Del. “Eventually we want to be in a position where we can record and distribute our own music from Within the one unit. We’ll establish a label, design the artwork, put music videos together, everything.‘ With around half a dozen releases already in the pipeline, it looks as if ADK are serious about success.
