A hefty bottt of (ireek mythology and tragedy all round. Dido. Qtteen of Carthage. falls in love with the warrior Aeneas. and dies for love when he makes to leave her for battle. In Handel‘s opera. the nymph (ialalea immortalises her human lover Acis. killed by a monster. by turning him into a stream. Exquisite music to be heard in both these works: both directed by Jonathan Cocker.
