I oubleback at the Universal. llpm-3am. £4 (£3). 8 Jul. Monthly. This new regular Thursday turns the Universal into a fine funk. soul. hip hop. breaks and disco party. It's a fine speakeasy-style venue. so get on this and find out what the word on Doubleback is.

I Fantastique at MAS. l Ipm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. The vernacular DJ Mirrorbaw plays a friendly brand of pop-fused house for a Thti night crowd looking for kicks. Purse-friendly drinks prices make this night a good draw.

I Fire Wire at Bamboo. l lpm—3am. £5 (£3). Weekly. Graham Ferguson mixes a wide variety of musical styles in the same room. Jim Brady will play an eclectic mix of lounge grooves while Gavin Macleod will be dropping classic house and disco.

I Freak Moves at Glasgow School ofArt. l lpm—3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. They‘ve got the skills to pay the bills - it‘s official. Hip hop mixing the world together. We feel love.

I Homework at Vault. l [pm—3am. £5 (£4). Weekly. The basement club aims for the student crowd without pandering to the usual formulaic pap. They call it fucked-up pop. which means pretty much anything from techno and electro to unashamed pop classics. Ian and Stevie man the box. so all insecurities over the tunes are dis lled easily.

I nstant Access at the Sub Club. llpm—3am. £2. Weekly. Hot fun in the summertime. Hotter than Beyoncé’s haircurlers and twice as kinky. Soul. hip hop and the other good shit with a double dose of sunshine in the Access boudoir. it’s kinda like Lidl but without the cheap croissants. Thursday night. except good.

0 Mikey Dread at the Arches. 8pm—3am. £15. (£14). 22 Jul only. Quality night of dub and reggae from Mikey Dread and the domestic DJs

who understand the scene the best. Hectorrr the Massiff. Harry .\' Dub Sweet T and the Section are on the decks for what will no doubt be a spaced out session. Rightly so.

I Phunky Monkey at Bc-lo. Rpm—3am. Free before 1 1pm; £4 (£3) after. Weekly. Scott Grainger. Vance and Richie McC'olm take over spinning duties at this new club that is probably going to be even bigger than Babaza. Plenty of drinks promos. funky anthems and floor fillers make it a winning formula.

I Record Player: at Glasgow School of Art. l().3()pm—2.3()am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Hi-iii Sean (Hi-Fidelity) and Hushpuppy (Divine) perform cheap deck suckin’ to disceau. dumb electro and 80s phunk. They advise you to act up. dress down and play easy to get.

I Skint at the Cathouse. l Ipm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Very much a night to reflect what's going on in Glasgow at the moment. Tough chemical breaks and beats. rock and indie for a crowd much like the one outside the Gallery of Modern Art.

I Speakeasy at the Universal. lOpm—2am. Free. Weekly. For those who feel like a few drinks after the pub. but don‘t want to go clubbing. Speakeasy is for you. The music isn‘t compromised. and the vibe is chilled.

I Wanted at the Social. 8pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Huge vocal house and real garage deployed weekly by Ian Thomson and Vance.

I Madhouse at the Shack. l().3()pm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. This massively popular night does exactly what it says on the tin. Student anthems are duly deployed by DJ C]. I Old Skool Reunion at Archaos. l lpm—3am. Weekly. Old school techno classics and disco style tunes for the frenzied students down Archaos way. I Retro at Trash. 1 lpm—3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Dave Young. Steven Brown and the Krazy Karaoke team ply their wares at this fabulous night under Pitt Street. A student night with stunning tunes. stunning looking people and a smattering of drinks promotions.

I Abnormals Anonymous at Glasgow School of Art. Next date tbc. I Babaza at Be-lo. 6pm—3am. Free before 1 1pm; £5 after. Weekly. The venue‘s legendary Friday nights take the name of the clubbing institution that used to be here. Paul Traynor. Billy Jones and Ross Macmillan are in charge of the music. and they‘ve been known to rip it up in the past.

I The Funk Room at the Arches. llpm—3am. £8 (£6). 16 Jul. Monthly. Mancunian funk monsters the Unabombers pay a visit to this Arches institution. Andrew Divine and Simon Big Beat host the monthly funk fest. and the crowd go wild. natch.

I Latin Fever at Fiesta Havana. opm—2am. free. Weekly. A night that evolves. butterfly-style. from a night of chart ttmes into a pulsating festival of loco Latin action. The latter starts at l()pm with DJ George spinning salsa. merengue and Latin pop.
