The Vaults at Nicol Edwards. Edinburgh. Sat 25 Sep

Yes, that's right, you read correctly. Edinburgh has Its Vaults back, and they‘re on Niddry Street. to boot. Don‘t get them confused wnh the Honeycomb. though, which is the old Vaults. These are the much smaller subterranean arches through the back of Nicol Edwards' pub, until now woefully wasted on

private parties and suchlike.

Prepare yourselves for such nights as Specnal Blend (house and breaks), Blow Your Head (funk and hip hop) and Diggin' Deeper (all of the above, plus live sets from Opal Sky and Soulstarr) over the next couple of weeks. But arguably the pick of the bunch. is Nite Flite, the new monthly residency from Danish reggae and dancehall DJ and MC Mystic.

Already well established in Scandinavia and Jamaica, Mystic who also records and releases his own material - will be using the night as a platform both for his own sound and a selection of upcoming guests. ‘I love reggae music so much I can not go halfway,’ he affirms. ‘I hope people WlII like what I’m putting out there but I‘m not gonna conform and become what everybody else is just to be in the mainstream. If radio don't get with it. it will still get into the street and that‘s what Nite Flite is all about, taking the finest of reggae and dancehall to the people of Scotland.‘ (David Pollock)
