Milanese. a native Londoner now based in Birmingham. is one of the label‘s up and coming acts. He first came to our attention with 12in '.-\reola‘. a slice of thumping 4/4 maiiiroom techno. and has recently released a mini-LP / ('17: six more challenging tracks of iiingle/garage/ragga/house/ techno topped off with a little bit of breakbeat and digital dub. lt‘s ‘mashed up robot music.~ as Milanese himself calls it. and when we catch him for a chat. he describes what it means for him to be inyoly'ed with such a legendary record label. ‘l‘m very pleased to

be part of \Varp. liye been into the label for just oy er ten years now so to actually get a record out on it is bi/arrc btit really great. The scene as a whole has been a really big influence on me and as important to my sound as Oils .lungle music.‘

.'\fter a w arm-up of ragga. grind. techno and electro from local liy‘e phenomenon Tom S. Milanese will make his debut Scottish appearance followed by a mash-up DJ set from Buddy Peace LY; Zillzi along to \Varp yideos. 'l'm Very much looking forward to playing (ilasgow. [We heard it‘s a great city] Milanese adds. ‘You'll haye to wait and see about my

set though.‘ he laughs. "There will be half new stuff

and half released stuff. but \ery‘ much altered tracks. It‘s more interesting and special that way. ()h and maybe expect some cra/y Video game weirdness too.‘

With alternatiye electronic nights few and far between in (ilasgow. we should definitely make the most of it. as Tom S explains. 'We're lucky to get Milanese in (ilasgow. He‘s not done many shows outside of London and is supposedly quite a mental performer. There are not many places putting on electronic nights like this.' he adds. ‘.-\nd haying \Varp up is just great. It‘s the first label that I really got into and most of the guys are idols so to be iny'olyed in it is really cool and a total honour. This w ill not be your ayerage Saturday night out.‘
