WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Last year’s inaugural Hot 100 featured 75 people who don’t make it into this year’s list. What have they been up to?

I David Mackenzie Having pushed the A boat out to make a film Out of Glasgow beat hero Alexander Trocchi's Young Adam. MackenZie took on ASv/uni. another lit-flick funded by Paramount. this time 1 based on a script by Patrick Marber. ' It's been a stop start affair. but the film is due to come out towards the end of 2005. Mackenzie has also been working on the screenplay of his long cherished protect Nice. I Anne Donovan Her Buddha Da was one of the quiet ; revelations of 2003. and Donovan has spent some of 2004 turning it into a screenplay. Aside from that. she has written a couple of short stories and is planning that Difficult Second Novel. I Henrik Larsson Spent the first half of the year playing God at Celtic. and then bade his Iachrymose farewells to a fanbase which knew they‘d never see his like again. Especially when he was applying his killer scoring touch to score against them for Barcelona. At least he had the good grace not to celebrate his goal. I Charles Jencks In 2003 Jencks cashed in on years 3 of hard work, with l the Dundee

Maggie's Centre (by Frank Gehry) and his own Landform installation in Edinburgh both opening. 2004 was a time for quietly getting on with the next step. And some of the forthcoming Maggie’s Centres are set to be even more interesting than Gehry's.

3' " I Ewan McGregor Young Ewan was doing Scotland proud through his acting work in 2003. but this year the priority was sprouting facial fuzz and riding a motOrbike round the world with his mate. There was the

odd film in between, but 2004 was one to chalk down to personal projects.

I Travis

A bit of busking, a couple of secret gigs and the release of a greatest hits album hints at a period of consolidation for Franny‘s Fab Four. He did manage to bustle in on the Band Aid single. sharing lines with Justin Hawkins and Sugababes. Though not in a Noel Gallagher way. i

I James McFadden After a high-profile move to the Premiership from mighty Motherwell. Fadders spent much Of his time languishing on the Everton bench as Rooney stole all his thunder. although he did a good job touting himself for the Scotland goalie position wrth a save against Norway which reSultod in a “shameful red card at Hampden. I JK Rowling With 80 sciuillion in the bank. Joanne Kathleen doesn't really need to do much ever. ever again, but she made a delightful kids-only appearance at Charlotte Square Gardens. causmg toddler mania unseen in these parts since Darius shaved his beard. I Robert Carlyle With about a million protects on the go. such as Farmers on E . in which he plays an Irish rural type alongside Ewen Bremner and Samantha Morten. and Dead Fish. with Gary Oldman. Bobby has been budding up for a rollicking 2005. But it meant he was largely invrsible in 200/1.
