Launched last month, the 2005 edition of The List Eating & Drinking Guide features our recommendations

for some of the best places to eat in town. We also want to know what you think, so log on to www.list.co.uk and tell us about the eateries that you love.

Reviewing restaurants looks like the most fun job in the world and to be honest, most times it is. Especially in the Central Belt, where we have such a wealth of culinary talent in both cities offering everything from Creole gumbo to Cullen skink.

We know that your time and money are precious and the choice of places to eat grows every year, hence why a nod in the right direction is so vital. While we review as many restaurants as possible (we visited over 800 this year) we take the extra step of awarding those that are a little bit special with a place on our Hit Lists. What follows is a selection of just a few of those who excelled in their field this year providing some of the very finest dining available in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Enjoy.
