Beat 1063 underground ambassador Mash gives the lowdown

Superbar DJs here we go! It has been suggested that bars are the new clubs. It is true. Times are a changing, and licencing laws are moving more in line with London and the rest of Europe. Edinburgh leads the way over Glasgow with some bars open until 3am and even later licences over the Festival. l’m looking forward to DJing in Pivos' wee cubby hole on 2 July for a marathon six hour set. Phew.

There are a few bars in Glasgow catching up with the later licences, like Bloc. Universal and Basura Blanca. and they all have the cream of Glasgow DJs playing alongside up and coming 0.13. From my days DJing in the Cul de Sac (RIP) for nearly nine years and the Living Room previously. I‘ve always enjoyed DJing in bars as well as clubs. As there is no dancefloor you can afford to be a bit more experimental and push those boundaries. I always use bar gigs as a testing ground for my own Mash material or the latest tracks We got, as it is great to road test them on a big soundsystem. Every Tuesday you can catch me at Moskito on Bath Street. where I play a very mixed bag of house. broken beat. electro, soul, funk, breaks and whatever else I fancy. I'm also about to start DJing in Linen 1906. the Southside’s latest watering hole. it's a gorgeous bar situated in the old Vault comedy club. Check out the amazing Fusion Experience (Buff Records) playing there every Friday for some amazing live soul, funk and jazz and you can catch myself and Haptic's Gianni Pallazzo playing there Thursdays and Saturdays. See you at the bar.

Catch Mash every Sunday on Beat 706 10pm—7am
