And finally. July's Kinky Afro (Sub Club. Glasgow. 29 July) is hosting a Laptop Standoff. ‘The laptOp has a bad rap when it comes to playing live.‘ explains Kinky's Matthew Bennett. 'All too often accusations are levelled at artists insinuating they are simply playing a prerecorded set while checking their emails. At the Afro Comb‘s Laptoo Stand Oft we intend to subvert this attitude by pitching competitors against each other in front of a panel of industry judges and the public at Iarge.‘ So if this sounds like your bag get a 15 minute demo to Laptop Standoff.
